Marital Politics

Post #1

Post by jcrawford »

Marriage rights are a hot political topic these days. Many sexual, religious and political issues are involved and the topic ought to make for a wide-ranging discussion and debate on such life and death issues as reproductive rights, sexual relations, child-rearing, financial obligations and other legal responsibilites, plus a host of other topic-related subjects which any poster may wish to introduce.

The feminist Kate Millet wrote a book several decades ago called "Sexual Politics." Hopefully we may generate enough information, data, personal POV's, opinions and comments in this thread to provide text for a new book called "Marital Politics."

I know that's a tall order, but if we put our minds to it, I know we can do it. Whether any of us would want the book published or whether it gets edited not will not be up to any of us, since everything we post here is already the published property of our generous website host, "Debating Christianity."

To get the first chapter of our book started then, the first question will be;

What rights do men or women have in marriage or to get married at all?

Besides, we need at least 300 pages of material on this thread if our dear website host is ever going to publish it as a best seller in book form.

Excellent rule and advice for those publishing on the Internet or in book form. Very Libertarian and in keeping with the spirit of individual voluntaryism.

Mostly because marriage is supposed to be a commitment between two people and God *FOREVER*. Not until you get tired of each other, not until you want to go screw someone else, but until the day you die.

If you're not willing to enter into such a commitment, at least from a religious standpoint, then don't get married at all.

Mmmm. Good advice for Christian men who want to marry each other or choose to freely procreate with their Christian wives "forever."

Advice that most Christians don't follow. Of course, then they claim that it's gays that are ruining marriage.

Sure, whatever you say.

Gays aren't ruining marriage. Secularists are. Besides ruining marriage, Democratic and Republican seccies are slowly ruining, robbing and destroying the whole country. Look at the mess over oil and religion they've got us into now.

Ah, because of course these "secularists" are forcing Christians to get divorces, right? Just like your silly claim that abortionists are forcing Christian women to get abortions.

No one is forcing anyone to do anything any more other than pay taxes. The seccies are just permitting everyone to ruin, rob, and destroy the country. Hope they don't ever try to force Christian Fathers and Sons to fight Muslims. That would really swell Canada's Islamic population.

All American servicemen in Iraq are there as secularists in defence of secular, athiest and feminist rights to abort their babies back home with neither their knowledge nor consent. Why any Christian military man or militias would fight for that in Iraq or back home is beyond me.
