Good post Grumpy and good points. I find it hard to believe any one would call evolution a religion. But it happens. Maybe it should be. Couldn't it be a science and a religion. I don't think it is a religion but with a little effort. Of course how would you be able to teach science or evolution in schools. Math could be a religion then we couldn't teach math. How about reading?

Heaven and hell are certainly real, i just figure you guys don't believe in it is why I said that. I am committed to that belief all the way beyond my grave.

I seem to be spending quite a bit of time on these forums lately showing how evolution is a general principle for the autonomous generation of novel design that can be applied in a variety of different settings. Indeed, I would happily argue that it has unlimited scope of application. So having seen practical applications of this general principle, I would suggest that it would clearly be wrong to refer to "evolution" as a religion -- except in the sense that some might say Baseball was their religion.

As a general working principle evolution is definitely not a myth.

Neither is Christ dyeing on a Cross for our sins.

I have to ask myself why it is so utterly impossible to engage you in proper debate rather than playground fighting. You say that evolution is a religion which I assume you to mean "is an arbitrary belief that cannot be validated by anyone who wishes too". In this case I invite you to explain how it is that anyone can purchase commercial tools which employ the principles of evolution to produce novel design solutions. If evolution was the utter bunk that it is so frequently claimed to be then how is it that this most careful study of nature has enabled our engineers to harness the principle so effectively for themselves?

If you can answer this in any logical way then we may be able to proceed with a proper debate.

Firstly how can you be so blind? Look at the prior posts, I have been attacked and stood up to it. I respect everyone starting out, once they show no respect, they DO NOT deserve it back in return.

On to evolution...I was merely going to point out MACRO evolution takes a degree of faith that certain things happened, mostly energy creating energy and a dog as an example giving birth to a non dog. NO ONE has observed this ever happening, you have to believe or have faith it happened, thus making MACRO religious in nature.

Micro evolution OTOH, is good sound science, but mixing the two together IS NOT the thing to do. Pretty simple and that is all I was going to say.

This arguing and bickering was intitiated by others, NOT ME. Now, I would choose to be cordial and respectful, but that is hard to do when posters suggest I don't have a brain for differing from their view. I am not a door mat, and will not stand for it, ok?
