Is there a time limit on editing posts? Sometimes if I have a post that I want to edit on a following day, it won't allow me to -- even if no one has since responded to the post.
It drives me crazy because I often post at work, so if my full attention isn't on the post I'll make a stupid mistake like using the exact opposite of a word that I intended to use and thus sow unnecessary confusion.

Post #2Yes, there is. I believe it is so that someone can't go back and change things after people respond too much to it... so a record of what is actually said is kept.Meow Mix wrote:Is there a time limit on editing posts? “What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Post #3I thought that might be the case, thanks.Goat wrote:Yes, there is. I believe it is so that someone can't go back and change things after people respond too much to it... so a record of what is actually said is kept.
Is it considered gauche to double post in order to correct an error if that time slot has passed, then?

Post #4I don't see anything wrong with a later post that says "Whoops! My bad. I said x and I meant to say y.".Meow Mix wrote:I thought that might be the case, thanks.Goat wrote:Yes, there is. Post #5It should be OK as long as it's not all the time. Also, I'd save it for things that affect the message you were trying to get across, not for typos or small mistakes.Meow Mix wrote:I thought that might be the case, thanks.Goat wrote:Yes, there is.
