Finally!

Post by Tymygy »

I've been looking for a reasonable debate forum for awhile. I haven't looked very hard until today, and I found this forum. Looks very well put together. I'm gonna try it out :D

Well, I'm an open minded, free thinking, PEARList. I have no belief in any type of God or higher power. I'm a Republican(?) usually people don't understand why, but I'm not going to go into that now. I've got alot of topics I'd like to discuss.

Welcome to the forum. This is a good place; very well run, very well and fairly moderated (and I thought that even before I was a moderator). Our #1 expectation is CIVIL and RESPECTFUL debate, and that's what makes the whole thing work.

I was once a Democrat, and I was once a Republican. Now I don't identify with ANY political persuasion, not even "independent," and I've found that even THAT can tick people off. I voted for McGovern, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, George W, AND Obama, so go figure. I'm mostly here to debate religion, anyway.

No idea what a "PEARList" is, but I'm sure you'll tell us. Janis Joplin fan, maybe?

Do you recall the search paths or search terms that led you here?

I agree with Cnorman (and knew him before he became a Moderator).

Otseng (Site owner and Administrator, Christian, and accomplished debater) has chosen a well-balanced and very even-handed moderating team. No point of view is favored. The playing field is very level, so arguments stand or fall on their own merits.

In the most active sub-forum, Christianity and Apologetics, the bible is NOT considered any more authoritative than any other book (though in other sub-forums such as Holy Huddle and Theology, Doctrine and Dogma the bible is considered authoritative).

Very nice :)

Republican non-believers are somewhat uncommon, so I'm looking forward to seeing your points of view in the Politics and Religion subforum, if you're interested in such debates.

I agree with cnorman that this forum is very well run and moderated (and I also thought so before I became a mod myself). So, I hope you like it here, and welcome!
