Hello everyone,
I am currently conducting some preliminary research in the area of the sociology of religion and I am hoping some of you might be willing to help me out (the link will be at the bottom of the post). The survey is totally confidential, I don't ask for anything that will identify who you are or where you are from, though I am trying to keep it relevant to adults within the US and Canada. As a majority of our nation identifies as believing in some sort of personal god I thought that this would be a good place to try and garner some info. And as it is a debate forum, I do hope that I will receive a full spectrum of answers.
The survey is short, a mere 9 questions and all of which are multiple choice, it shouldn't take more than a minute to fill out. The lay out is simple, what religion, if any, do you most identify with, a few questions about how strong your convictions are, and a couple socio-economic background questions (i.e. a rough estimate of your income/education). It might seem too short to give me any good data but as I said, it is preliminary research. My hope is that if I can get a decent sample this might lead to further and more in depth research.
If you follow the link, this should take you to the survey. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes a minute to help out!

Also, I don't believe skewed results will be a problem. So long as the pool is large enough some true data will emerge. All experiments reveal data, though it may not be the data that I expect to see. Maybe my initial hypothesis will be incorrect and I will discover some other statistical trend which I can go on to explore further. That's what I think is so great about the scientific method, there is really no such thing as a failed experiment.

I filled the survey, hope it helps.

I know US history has been full of non-believers. It really is a shame that so many people think they have to closet their non-belief if they want to remain in the politics game.Lucia wrote:We need an Atheist Pride ParadeMcCulloch wrote: I'll bet that there are a number of closet atheists. Re: Survey on the Sociology of Religion
Post #15Hoping I will eventually get enough data to focus on any anomalies that occur within a single group where I will then be able to do more research (probably in the form of participant observation) over the next couple years. My hope is to come out with a paper on any relevant findings I may come across.winepusher wrote:Are you doing research for a college project or a dissertation?KennethM wrote:Hello everyone,

Hey everyone, still need a fair amount of data. Particularly from believers. I have loads of info on what the Atheists and Agnostics think but I would really like to see more Christians, Jews and Muslims participate. If anyone here could help me out (Jesus would do it
) and post this in areas of the forum that are mostly populated by the faithful I would be most appreciative.

Does it make one wonder why those who promote religion are hesitant to answer questions concerning religion or are evasive? It happens regularly in debate and apparently happens with a survey too. I wonder why.KennethM wrote:Hey everyone, still need a fair amount of data. Particularly from believers. I took the survey.

And I keep wondering why non-Christians have so much time to debate and answer survey questions...Does it make one wonder why those who promote religion are hesitant to answer questions concerning religion or are evasive? Thank you! If you could perhaps ask more of the faithful to participate as well it would be much appreciated.
Haha! Well I can only speak for myself when I say that I do enjoy discussion but only when I am not working or sleeping.otseng wrote:And I keep wondering why non-Christians have so much time to debate and answer survey questions...Does it make one wonder why those who promote religion are hesitant to answer questions concerning religion or are evasive?
