Hello everyone

Post by jetsironworker »

Hello everyone. I just joined this site and am hoping to have a lot of fun debating and learning at the same time. I am a new atheist, though I've considered myself agnostic for many years. I have finally realized that the only reason I did not commit to atheism until now was because of the fear of going to hell. Now I have finally made that leap and realize that I haven't had a belief in god for at least a decade. I hope this is a good experience for me and that I can refrain from offending anyone too badly.

Hi Ironworker,

Welcome to the forum. There is considerable discussion here about the difference between Agnostic and Atheist. I avoid both terms and identify as "Non-Theist" (tending toward Ignosticism -- not Agnosticism).

Non-Theist

ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence
