Introducing myself

Post by veeman »

I have been debating a "Jesus as a personal savior" on the one-on-one forum at Christianforums.net and my adversary has been shy of late. Prior to that I was a participant in multiparty debate on Christianforums.com's "Fundamentalist" forum until the moderators stopped us. The more recent one-on-one has been a fantastic experience. The competitive stimulus to learn apologetics has been intense. Desiring more practice, I am dipping my toe here. I am a born-again Christian. I currently attend a Presbyterian church.

Welcome Veeman

You will find that many of the folk you will talk to here who are non-beleivers have a very extensive knowledge of apolgetics and the hermeneutic gymnastics indulged by apologists in order to support their arguments.

Why is their a need for a 'personal saviour'?

Do you want to post that as a topic and go one-on-one? Sorry to be public but I'm too new to PM.

As an atheist who has done much as you described, I would enjoy a one on one debate with someone who has some combat experience in these things. Do you have some debates in mind? Perhaps something scientific in nature such as evolution or cosmology? Or maybe you would prefer something more doctrine oriented such as free will or even the existence of God himself? If it would suite you we could go even deeper into Christian beliefs and debate things like prophesy or even whether Jesus meets the Messianic prophesies of Judaism. If you have a topic you would like to propose I would be happy to consider it.

bernee51, do you want to go head-to-head on, let's say, "Proposed: There is No Need of a Personal Savior", something like that?

Hold that thought, Abraxas. bernee51 seemed to be offering challenge, and I've already stepped to the gauntlet. I don't want to overcommit, I work hard already. If I don't hear from bernee51 in a couple days, let's talk again. Just remember I can't PM yet.

I'll be off-line (mostly) for the next couple of days...when I get back I can look at it.

BTW would I be correct in assuming your idea of 'personal saviour' is something apart from the self?

Fair enough. Will you be participating in any of the public threads?

Assuming you mean any besides this one, I'm really just into one-on-one debate for now.
