Welcome!

Sadly losing faith? Why is it sad?

I think it can very well be a sad thing. It's been a very sad thing for me, especially considering I lived and breathed it all my life. It could imagine it would be very easy for a Christian whose faith is failing to block out all the arguments against their religion and remain in their comfortable delusion. I guess it depends on the individual and what experiences they have had.

Welcome Bilzey. You are more than welcome to join in the discussions here and we do have other active members here around your age, a Christian and an atheist. (that I know of).

As much as I love to see new members join up, I would warn you though, that if you really do want to hold on to your faith, this may be a dangerous place for you as you will come across a lot of challenges to your faith and beliefs from the atheists and agnostics here and they can be agressive at times. If however you want to see arguments on either sides on a site that is unbiased in its administration, then this is the one.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Welcome, Bilzey!

It's also sad to stop believing in Santa. It's part of growing up, though. Personally, I see your "loss" as an important intellectual accomplishment, of which you should be proud. Especially for 16. Well done, sir. :D

Welcome to the forum Bilzey. Might I suggest that should you lose faith, make sure it is of your choice and it is based on a rational reason. Don't lose it out of rebellion or because your friends may not agree with it. If you are to lose it, make sure it is because you have found sufficient reasons to reject it.

That being said, I look forward to your input and seeing your views.

What we do for others and the world remains
and is immortal.

Welcome Billy,

just now losing faith seems sad but after a while, when you take your distance, you will see it's deludedness and be happy to be rid of it.

Believe in a God in itself is not deluded. To believe that this God would be interested in conceiving a child with a young virgin is just... well not really sane imho

I've gone through the same thing a few years back and I remember feeling like the blurry screen which I was looking through finally dissolved and I could see clearly at last.

Welcome to the forum.

Why do you say you are losing faith?

I am new to DebatingChristianity.com (less than a month). Have you lookd into Mormonism? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a unique branch of Christianity. I have been raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. On my mom's side of the family tree I have ancestors who were in the Church when Brigham Young(2nd President of the Church was alive) and on my dad's side of the family tree he was the to join The Church. Are you losing your faith because you see the contradictions in the Bible? Then we are a match. To find out more go to LDS.ORG, MORMON.ORG, or JOSEPHSMITH.NET or use this website to ask me questions(if that can be done).
