What does it profit Him?

I see tons of doctrinal debates here, mostly with non-believers, and I was wondering: What does it profit God for us to debate things of the spirit with those not of the spirit?

If we are to believe scripture, the natural man is incapable of understanding the things of God, yet we jump in and duke it out with athiests about stuff that clearly they are incapable of understanding. We try to place spiritual issues in secular terms, using logic and reason, and taking heat for faith - to what end?

What are we commanded to do as sons of God? Go out and be fishers of men. We spread the Gospel of Christ, plant the seed and let the spirit take hold of it and make it grow, or not grow as the case may be, yet we jump into debates which we know from the begining will be futile.

The book of Matthew tells us to be prepared to give an answer for our faith, but do we take this to the extreme sometimes and try to convince those who cannot understand that we are reasonable in our faith?

You've answered your own question.

You might be differentiating 'debating' from 'witnessing' (or "fishing").

But your answer is in your own statement "...plant the seed..."
