Armageddon (signs of the last days)

Post by wandering_mind »

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum, as you can see. Well, the topic of this debate is for the Muslims out there.

I overheard some Muslims speaking and they were talking of the "signs" given in the Koran, in Islam in general, of the last days. Even though I first laughed at the whole conversation, I couldn't help but to stop thinking about when one of the Muslims said that many of the signs are happening. I'm still wishy washy about the whole "Day of Judgement Idea" and I'm still not 100% sure on the whole topic, but I don't like to come to a conclusion without knowing the facts.

So the question is:

1.What are the signs of the last days?

And also add if you think that these signs are already occuring.

There are no true signs of the Apocalypse in the Qur’an aside from calamitous biblical–style happenings: the sky getting rolled up like a scroll (my favourite biblical imagery), stars falling from the sky, fire and mayhem, graves bursting forth and spilling their contents, etc.

In the ahadith, however, Muhammad gives more specific signs (like the age when people listen to music). Related legends have it that the islamic equivalent of the antichrist will appear (the Dajjal) and people will follow him, turn against Islâm, etc. etc.

Sounds very christian in concept.
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Thank you wandering for asking.

I'll just name a few: (The lines that are italicize are sayings from the Prophet (pbuh))

*Religion becomes strange and difficult

"Islam began strange and will return as it began."

"There will come a time for people that to hold onto one's religion would be like holding a hot coal in one's hand."

*Open Sexual Relations
"The Hour will not come until there are men and women in the street having sexual relations with each other like donkeys do."

When donkeys want to mate, no one can control them or stop them from jumping on each other.

*Torture will be widespread
(While speaking to Abu Hurayra, the Prophet's (pbuh) shahabi (friend))

"It is imminent and if you live for a while, you will see a people with something in their hands like the tails of oxen. They go out in the morning under the wrath of Allah and come abck in the evening under His curse."

The thing that they will have in their hand that resembles an oxen's tail is a whip. These people will have it in their hand, and leave in the morning to harm people and bring torture and when they come back in the evening, Allah is disgusted with them...These people are the Muslims.

My reference is a book called "The Approach of Armageddon" by Muhammad Hisam Kabbani.

There is plenty more, but I don't want to bore.

Hope that clears up some confusion

It was reported from Anas that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said: "Among the signs of the Hour are the following: knowledge will decrease and ignorance will prevail; fornication and the drinking of wine will be common the number of men will decrease and the number of women will increase, until one man will look after fifty women." (Bukhari.)

(The first two examples are common now/rampant; the last about men decreasing in numbers, probably some future wars that may occur.. men going to fight and die.. large numbers; but Allahu Allam. ['Knowledge decreasing' I believe refers to Islamic Knowledge/Religious knowledge. Ignorance about the religion, etc.])

Abu Hurairah said: "The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said: 'The Hour will not come until time passes so quickly that a year will be like a month, a month like a week, a week like a day, a day like an hour, and an hour like the time it takes for a palm-leaf to burn'." (Ahmad.)

'O Muhajirun, (emigrants from Mecca to Medina) you may be afflicted by five things; God forbid that you should live to see them. If fornication should become widespread, you should realize that this has never happened without new diseases befalling the people, which their forebears never suffered. If people should begin to cheat in weighing out goods, you should realize that this has never happened without drought and famine befalling the people, and their rulers oppressing them. If people should withhold zakat, you should realize that this has never happened without the rain being stopped from falling; and were it not for the animals' sake, it would never rain again. If people should break their covenant with Allah and His Messenger, you should realize that his has never happened without Allah sending an enemy against them, to take some of their possessions by force. If the leaders do not govern according to the Book of Allah, you should realize that this has never happened without Allah making them into groups and making them fight one another.’ (Reference: Collection of hadiths by Ibn Majah)
