I enjoyed reading the threads and wanted to join in and learn as well as share.
Thanks for the welcome pm and hope my stay is a pleasant one for all.
I am saved and believe that the only way to live is by every word of God.
In this day and age it is is difficult to live as a believer and I think forums like this are great for helping believers and atheists, understand each others beliefs better.

Don't really follow it is a mixed family bag. Would rather watch formual one car racing.
My sister's into all that. Me, I'm too busy worrying about whether someone will crash so I don't watch it.
Nothing wrong with being a heathen, one of my best friends is a heathen.
Ah good, a reasonable theist. I like those.
Don't have a tag I believe true faith is about love.
Well anyway, you're a contrast to some of the religious people here, I can tell that already.

I am glad there is someone here from the North.

I take it you are too...?
Cheshire not too far away.
Good grief, not at all.

Hi, Can I call you OC for short, :D

Are you a lapsed believer? Thanks for taking the time to welcome me.

:D Love Faith.xx
Sure you can call me OC.

Lapsed believer? You'll have to explain that one to me. I'm not sure what you mean. :)

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Thanks OC,

A lapsed believer is someone who has gradually fallen away from living for the Lord. Someone who once held faith but gradually stops meeting with other believers. So goes there own way in the end.

While there probably are many lapsed believers, I doubt that most of the former Christians here are. Lapsed seems to indicate a gradual loss of interest in things spiritual, whereas, by continuing to debate them, the former Christians here are showing deliberate interest. I, for one, am not a lapsed believer. I once believed, I examined the evidence and came to the conclusion that in all probability there are no supernatural beings and no afterlife.

Hi Mack,

What was the evidence you examined? Do you mean you reasoned the truth with your senses or that you could not find the truth in the things you believed?

Perhaps I misspoke. I searched for evidence and found nothing valid. Everything that was presented as evidence for the existence of the Christian God simply did not qualify as evidence. I wanted to believe in the myth, but honesty compelled me to reject it.

Welcome to the forum Faith. I agree, in todays world the believer has quite a challenge to live by the words of God. But then, I am unsure what those words are :-k .

Look forward to seeing your contributions.

What we do for others and the world remains
and is immortal.

No, I was not one then. I was still going to church regularly when I started to fall from the faith. Then one day I decided I could no longer keep attending church. If you're interested here are some links about my deconversion:

What made you give up?
Was I a true Christian?

How did the lack of evidence you use to dismiss belief in God, weigh up against the evidence of your existence and the world around you?
Creation is too perfect to be an accident. :)
