Ok, I'm a Christian, but I came across this and I was stumped. I just wanted to see what you other Christians would say...
We pray for people with things ranging from the common cold to cancer to God to heal them. When healed, we sometimes thank God for healing them, since he is the Great Physician. Now, how does he bless amputees (these are people who have had their legs/arms cut off or were born without them).
You never see them grow back.
Now I didn't know what to say. What do you think?
Thanks

Amputees can be Inspirational to all of us!
Post #2Hello, Mineman43. I pray that your "name" is not indicative that you have lost limbs! Although I've had my crosses to bear, none of them involved any physical losses to that extent. These are simply my thoughts from reading the Bible:mineman43 wrote:We pray for people with things ranging from the common cold to cancer to God to heal them. I Samuel 16:7 wrote:For man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
Although losing limbs is tragic, some of these people go on to amaze us! It was announced Friday (May 16th) that double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius will have a chance to represent South Africa at the Beijing Olympics this summer. That's the regular Olympics, not the Paralympics for the handicapped. Now, suppose for a moment that he wins a gold metal. Further, let's imagine that he's a religious person (don't know if he is or not); and his first act upon winning the gold is to publicly thank and credit his God for giving him the victory! What a testimony he would have.
God makes or allows people to become weak in the eyes of man, then leads some to incredible accomplishments, so that others can see what God could accomplish through such a "weak" person. Other observers think, "No way that person in his condition could have succeeded on his own accord. Certainly God was on his (or her) side!"
Thus God chooses the most unlikely underdogs to perform special service. Moses had a severe speech impediment, Saul was a womanizer, David a murderer. Paul originally had no weakness. Incredibly, upon selecting Paul to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles, God gave him a "thorn in the flesh." Regardless of how weak due to physical or mental problems, we are all here for a reason. Never, ever believe that you are too weak to fulfill your mission! The weaker you are, the more spectacular your accomplishment will be for God's glory.
God can bless amputees by illustrating His power through their overcoming unprecedented tragedies to live successful happy lives. Some will astonish us with their impossible accomplishments. They can be inspirational to all of us!
