Progression to atheism

Post by alexiarose »

Is hating God the first step to eventually discounting His existence? Does it allow one to start to see all the inconsistencies, doubt the stories, and eventually, discredit Him altogether?
Its all just one big puzzle.

Your question assumes we innately believe in God, but I don't believe hate is necessary. Are you familiar with James Fowler's Stages of Faith Development? I am probably between stages four and five.
No, it doesn't presuppose this. It is referring to one who is old enough to have accepted their faith but then been challenged to the point that maybe they are questioning their faith enough to start believing otherwise.

There is nothing even related to innate here.
Indeed. I have reread the question, and stand corrected.

I am sorry for being mean. Stress and emotions tend to not mix.

Can you try to drop the analytical responses for 5 seconds and just give me an answer from the heart? Not technical. Do I have a reason to fear hating God? Could it lead me away from Him?
OK Alexia nothing technical, just a personal opinion. If you hate (get angry with) God like Job did, You’re alright. Because Like Fisher says you have to BELIEVE IN GOD to hate (get angry with) Him. But if your hate leads to doubt - unbelief, you’d better be careful. Your doubt is the greatest block to God working with you in your life. Pray to God to remove your doubt until it’s removed. That's straight from the heart Barbara. Take it as you would a loving embrace of comfort from a compassionate empathetic friend, who wishes and prays for your strength and well being as well as your mom's at this time.

Bless You Darlin'. God be with you.

Saved by the Grace of God???

One Battle

"The believer has only one battle, and that is against doubt - unbelief."
