Just wanted to introduce myself. I hope to have some interesting conversations with people of different beliefs and points of view. I am a naturalist, a person who lives his life base on the tangible things. Not concerned at all with ideas or beliefs I cant prove.
I intend to speak my mind in a respectful manner, have my mind open to new ideas and recognize my mistakes when I am wrong. But I also intend to tell you bluntly when you are mistaken and defend my stance until you prove me wrong.
Now, lets debate!
Hello everybody!

Post #6Just want to introduce myself. I just found this forum looking through GotQuestions.com. I was very, very impressed by the respectful manner in which a topic was debated. I read a topic regarding the Trinity and the response by the moderator, a Jew, and an atheist was a rare breathe of fresh air and very informative. Not only did they all know what they were talking about, not only were they clear and concise, they were very respectful of not only each other but of the topic under discussion. This forum, for me, is a rare find; actually, I have not yet found a forum that is a such a civil tone as this one.
Now, I myself am a 25 watt light bulb among 1,000 watts and with only a high school education, my "scholalry" aptitude is very limited. I'm not rounded out very well, yet I try to be. Although I try to be understanding of another's view, I can be forceful (yet respectful) attempting to in getting us to agree on, at least, the logical conclusion of what the other person is suggesting (not that they have to necessarily agree with the conclusion except to at least agree that is a conclusion one may come to).
Why do i say this? Because in some debates I've been in, the oppong view states certain prepositions and states that it cannot lead to such a conclusion as I proposed when it is so clearly logical that it can!
For example: double predestination. If someone believes that God made the decision to send a certain small number of persons to heaven, the logical conclusion is that God chose certain persons (that are also the majority) to hell. Some would deny it and say it is not a logical conclusion but I fail to see how it is not.
Anyway, gotta go! Will post more when I can. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Don't sell yourself short. Maybe you're one of these high efficiency bulbs.

It is a pleasnt environment. Be careful, however, because these discussions and debates can be addictive.
BTW, we don’t have any wattage ratings. Anyone is free to earn respect and credibility on the basis of what they write.
Welcome to the forum Atdcross. I feel the same way about DC&R after about a year of membership. Most uncivil people weed themselves out (or are encouraged out).atdcross wrote:This forum, for me, is a rare find; actually, I have not yet found a forum that is a such a civil tone as this one.

I didn't have time to say that I do not have a home computer, so access is very limited. If you don't hear my responses for a few days or a week, that's because I'm unable to get to the library.
And since the library only allows me to be on for 30 minutes at a time in a day, the most I'll be doing is reading the debates that interest me...and posting here now and then, at least, for now. Maybe I'll jump in with a quick response to a posted debate but I don't think I'll be able to do more than that. There is an internet cafe around me that I can use but that cost $ and since I'm unemployed right now, that access is also very limited.
Ooops, I've just be reminded by this hand-dandy library computer that I have 2 minutes left.
Catch ya later...
