these idiots making up lame stories, they cant accept the fact that women are taking part in fighting now, so they spread these lies. not that im justifying market bombings, strange indeed
CNN???

has anyone heard of properganda..

but Allahu alam whats really going on.
the only people saying they had downs is the US military. Just because you have downs doesnt mean you are totally incapable of mental thought they could have known what they are doing (dependent on the severity of the condition). do you equally condem the execution of the disabled elderly person by the US marines In Haditha?

Lets accept the reports for arguments sake, you condemn those that Used the Women (because they are victims too) for the bombings. Then condemn the US military for using the women for propaganda purposes.

Ask yourself why there are larger number of women using these tactics in Iraq is it because that the level of sexual abuse towards women has increased by the occupying army and its allies in Iraq
These and other quotes are taken off of the forum cited above.

So what do people here think? Is the media evil? Does CNN engage in blantently false Propaganda or do they report things as best as they can without bias?

Can you actually support your claims?

Now, if CNN doesn't engage in propaganda, would those claiming it does be doing so simply to avoid responsibility for the actions or are there any other reasons they would make this up?

If CNN does engage in propaganda, what can be done about it?

And lastely, in what countries do we see other example of propagando being used and how well respected and believed are those sources by the people of that country?
It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.

I can’t speak about CNN (I live in Britain and rarely watch American news), but I can refer to media in terms of Israel & Palestine. I hear a lot about pro–Palestinian media (complaints from Jews, Americans, etc.) but I grew up a prior believing in Israel as ‘right’ in the Middle Eastern conflict. As I thought more deeply I came to realise I had it ingrained in me because of the media. Only very recently have I started seeing support of the Palestinian position from the British media :-k.

Where did you grow up? UK?

So in your opinion the media could be somewhat slanted in their take? You said that it has changed. How so?

As a note for you, as an american, both CNN and Fox are basically none/news shows, showing various false propaganda that benefits their side. Two shows keeping the american populace ignorant.

Thats just the facts. But i assume you would be aware of it.

UK news agencies such as BBC, is in my opinion, which is objective opinion, one of the best Universal News sources we have. It has indeed a slanted view of the Israel conflict, but in general its quite good news.

Albeit western false propaganda is injected. American 'news sources' are completely absent, all news from the U.S is a joke. They seem to make it up as they go along, i tuned into Fox news hearing them say THE U.S IS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, and they meant it (completely opposite of world fact)., i thought i tuned into a comedy show, but it was REAL.

CNN is less obvious, they ACT like they are a real news channel, but just tune in for 5 min and have any education/knowledge about the world, and you would just shake your head.

I do NOT watch television at all but do check some mainstream US news sources on the Internet.

However, I rely upon “convergence of evidence” by reading reports originating worldwide from a number of different points of view AND reading many “alternative” Internet sources. Often there is significant difference between what is reported from multiple sources elsewhere and what is reported by US mainstream media.

It is beyond my doubt that news media are manipulated by the US government, by special interest groups, and by corporations through various means including payments and pressures. This represents a form of propaganda in my estimation.

What can be done? Obtain information from wide-ranging sources worldwide; verify what is said to whatever extent prudent, question sources and specifics.

What can be done for those who are unable or unwilling to consult Non-US sources? Nothing. Willful ignorance is difficult or impossible to correct.

Can US mainstream media be made more free and independent? I very seriously doubt that any significant improvement can be made given the present distribution of money and power.

I hope Pazuzu doesn't mind me butting in. I'm of the opinion that practically all media is slanted to some degree. The BBC has a very good reputation, I understand, and many see it as one of the most impartial sources out there. However it can still be accused of presenting a slanted view. As Pazuzu indicates, news reports of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the past were predominantly pro-Israeli. Recently - I'd guess at perhaps the last 10 years or so - this slant has been almost completely reversed, so that it now appears to be pro-Palestinian. Whether or not that has anything to do with a change in government from Conservative to Labour I suppose is a matter of opinion. It might also arguably be partly down to Anglo-American relations, or 'cooling' thereof.
