Do you believe your country is the best?
All facts (of the world) has shown that the U.S is a tragic joke to quite a few countries of the world. The most advanced nations on the planet are secular, especially the Scandinavian ones.
But yet, the "U.S is the best" and "You are jealous of us" comes from american mouths. Generally, these people never been ANYWHERE outside their country, nor outside their own state. The average american has never seen visited another country, and financially, will never afford to.
I understand the majority of the people here are intelligent (theist excluded), so you are obviously not the average, but i thought the question would be fun to Ask.

When mentioned , all I got from a Swedish person is 'of course they aren't liked, they are nothing but thieves. This shows their blind spot by ignoring the plank in their own eye while sneering at the spec in the eyes of others.
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Hell no.Do you believe your country is the best?
Most people do think their country is best, it is a found weakness.
It looks like jamesearl suffers from some of the same patriotic elements as the rest of us.
My country is as good as others and as bad much like my family I love them even if it isn't the best but it could be worse. I have no illusions that our country is the best I the world as I am well aware of many of out flaws and it would take many years of study to find them all. Much more time then a life time I am afraid. I have an above average education and maybe eve a little below average income depending on how we define average. In many countries I would be very well off and in some I would be in poverty.
We have a rich and long history of injustice and exploitation.
Many of our ancestors were kicked out or fled some of the best countries in Europe as one comedian put it and some were forced here to make others rich, at least the ones that survived the voyage.
But it is interesting to see bigotry and intolerance survives in some of the best countries of the wold with the some of the highest standards of some of the most superior people with their “Superior society, superior people (intellect, education, loving etcetera)” and everyone there is above average.
Wouldthat be normal "romany" that is also known as gypsies? who are per definition thieves?
Sees kind of redundant to call them gypsies doesn't it? Not very productive for such a superior people that once produced Vikings. Of course I don't believe everything the history book said as it was told by Europeans that felt their Christian civilization was in jeopardy. After all they did bring some fresh air and sparked some wonderful things as they settled down in the places they looted. They were great joiners.
Not everything is all bad.
One should wonder why Gypsies or Romanians would have to resort to thievery in such a superior country. Much like I sometimes wonder why Mexicans have to come here and work their butts off.
As Woody Guthrie wrote in one of his songs, “Is this the best way we can grow out great orchards. Is this the best way we can grow our great crops?”
No we are not the best country and we could do better or maybe not.

Unless your a Republican.

Of course half my family and friends are Republican but I still love them.
I am just glad my kids are not, even my ex and her parents are not Republican.
Of course I am not that pleased with the other parties either and the some of the others seem a little crazy.
When I complain about the crazy guy next door I tell my landlord I want to be the craziest person in the building.
Our country is like our family, we love them even if we disagree.
My mom's side were Scotts so there disagreements seem to get out of hand.
My Dad's side were a little mixed and they would take you in forever if you let them and treat you like royality.
I am going to the cafe and read. It is my little haven in a heartless world in this crummy country of mine.
We should all more to Sweden and lower their standards.

Do I like my country? Well do and I don't. I mostly enjoy living in it. I recognise it has some benefits that other countries lack. Because I am (sort of) a native of the British Isles generally, if not England, I feel at home here in a way that I cannot envisage feeling about anywhere else.
But I've only visited a few other countries briefly in my lifetime, so my experience is limited. Born in Canada, I lived there for seven years and have briefly visited the USA (for about an hour), France, Belgium and Italy (I guess you can include the Vatican and San Morino in that for the sake of neatness). All these countries have obvious pros and cons, just like my own does. In other words, whether a country is the 'best' in the world is, I would argue, a highly subjective conclusion at which to arrive.
I have noticed that many Americans are extremely patriotic, in a way that I do not see Brits being. I notice that if a criticism is levelled at the US, its citizens seem to automatically leap to a heartfelt defence of their 'great' nation, regardless of what the criticism was, or how valid it might be. Indeed, it almost feels strange and 'not right' in some undefinable way to witness this reaction.
As I said, I enjoy living in this country. It's not perfect, but it's what I know best and there are enough good points to warrant my enjoyment. However, this does not automatically mean that I will leap to defend all things British simply because they are British. There are certain things about this place that I am distinctly not proud of and I do not feel an obligation to defend them.
My personal opinion is that it may be some people's perhaps 'blind' patriotism which leads to accusations of unfounded elitism. Why are people proud of their countries anyway? Should we feel pride for the simple fact that we were born in a specific location?
