Ok, so I got this email that said I should introduce myself here.
My name is Barbara.
I am 19 years old.
I go to FSU and am majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Genetics.
I like to surf the net, watch old movies, and annoy the heck out of my mom (as I am doing now, ha ha).
I am Christian but am the minority in my family, I am the only one who is religious except my little sister, but she is only 9 so she doesn't really count.
Why I joined this, I have been reading my moms posts for a long time now and instead of arguing with her, I decided I am going to argue with you all instead. I think I may not get in as much hot water this way. With any luck, I will show her how wrong she is (and pigs fly!!!).
So is there anything else I am suppose to put here?
Hi all.

Welcome
No there is nothing else you need to put here. I'll probably take your mom's side on most of the issues.

Welcome to the forum alexiarose.
Probably best not to reveal who your mom is off the bat. It'll be more fun if people can try to figure it out on their own.

I can figure you aren't a YEC creationist at least if you are majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Genetics.. I have a fasination with Marine biology so maybe
you can teach me some stuff
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Hey, no fair. You haven't even heard my arguement yet. LOL. I have read some of her posts and she is stubborn, pigheaded, and an annoyance when she gets her mind set on something. But I, on the other hand, am sweet, nice, and always right. So you might consider taking my side just to be on the right side, ha ha. Ok, that may not be true, but can't you root for the underdog here?

Mom already said she would take away my computer if I mention who she is. Of course, i still have my laptop, so no biggie.

I took mostly AP biology/chemistry courses in high school so I already have 3 semesters worth of classes done. I can probably help you with some stuff, then more as I take the upperclass courses.
YEC creationism is right up there with intelligent design. Stupid.
If mom is right, then I will never hear the end of it, so she can't be right.

I used to be always right when I was your age. I'm not quite as smart now.alexiarose wrote:I have read some of her posts and she is stubborn, pigheaded, and an annoyance when she gets her mind set on something. But I, on the other hand, am sweet, nice, and always right.

Who can argue with logic like that? You might do well to review some Logical Fallacies before proceeding much further.alexiarose wrote:If mom is right, then I will never hear the end of it, so she can't be right.

Are you as old as my mom? I notice that the older people get the worse their stamina is to always be right, LOL. The bright spot, my generation will put an end to that Ancient And Retired Peoples (AARP, get it, ha ha) thinking.
Yes, I have visited that site. Allow me to present a different defense?
Considering that it will be my generation caring for your generation as you age and forget your own names, wouldn't it benefit you to agree with your youthful generation? Are the use of threats a logical fallacy?
