Hello to all. I am a former Christian--in fact, 30+ years ago I was a Methodist minister. I converted to Judaism at the age of 50. Since converts are required to do extensive reading and study, and since I was previously seminary trained, I am pretty familiar with the beliefs and traditions of both religions. I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions and debates here.
I am wondering if there are any other Jews pc this forum. I suspect not, because the only references to Judaism I see here are a few passing mentions in a discussion of Islam and some outrageous antisemitic falsehoods from (apparently) a woefully misinformed Muslim. I hope to provide a Jewish perspective here, but to be honest, if I find myself spending all my time dealing with bigotry like that, I will not be here long. I sincerely hope that that will not be the case.
Anyway; good to be here, and I'll see you on the boards.
Any other Jews here?

Please do not be put off by the odd piece of bigotry - we atheists suffer it all the time.

There are/have been several followers of Judaism who post. I'm sure they will make themselves known.
What was more attractive to you about Judaism as compared to christianity?

Post #3Over on the non-Christian board, u've posted 10 things that many, if not most, people don't know about Judaism. That's a start. I will soon be posting a detailed account of the thinking that motivated me to change.
Thanks for asking. If you're an atheist, what's up with the Palestinian headgear?

The forum is in need of theistic members who are capable of presenting strong arguments based on reason and evidence (to balance an abundance of capable non-theistic members). It would appear as though you could be an asset to debates with wide knowledge from different viewpoints.
I am one of those who disbelieve in gods and magic – and ask difficult questions.
In spite of all that <smile> welcome to the forum.cnorman18 wrote:Hello to all. I am a former Christian--in fact, 30+ years ago I was a Methodist minister. I converted to Judaism at the age of 50.

That picture was taken in the Egyptian desert in winter. It was windy and cold. They work remarkably well in the desert - funny that.
