Youtube guess who

I am especially fascinated by this topic because I am always curious as to how well I am reading between the lines. I often look around at restaurants and wonder if I am looking at one of my DCR "colleagues". Is Cathar a tenor or a bass? I am guessing bass. How about Easyrider? Probably a tenor. I already know what 5 people in here actually look like - and I was fairly close on all but one. But it is fascinating how someone's writing on a very specific topic can color my perception of what they are like in the rest of their life.

We used to hold very large Xmas parties every year at our house (over 50 people) and it was always a VERY diverse group of people. We often played a game in which a person had a sticker with a word on their back and had to ask others allowable questions in order to figure out what the word was. I have often wondered if there might be a way to do something similar with DCR. Perhaps we could have a travel fund that would enable everyone over a certain number of posts to come here for a party....but nobody would know who each other was. During the course of the party religion could not be discussed. Instead, people would try to guess each other's screen names by their party personalities - and write that choice on their name badge. What would you do if you chose Easyrider as Cathar!?

A suggestion?

Since such a party is doubtful, perhaps there would be an online way to set this up? Perhaps people could submit Youtube videos and Otseng could post the links anonymously under a "guess who I am" section. People could then vote for who they think was in the video.

I think it's possible. I've created a DebatingChristianity user on Youtube. What we can probably do is this:
- Upload a video of yourself to Youtube.
- PM me with the link to the video.
- I'll download the video and upload it to the DebatingChristianity account.
- People can post in the comments of the video of who they think it is.

That was not my grand daughter but a daughter of one of my friends. For some reason babies, kids and animals like me. She is now three. But I have a new one that another friend just had 7 weeks ago and I am already spoiling her.

As the saying goes "That's why I'm in radio!" or in this case, "That's why I'm in a virtual debate society!"
You don't have to necessarily show yourself. It could be video showing you with sound or no sound, or it could be a video showing something you like to do narrated by you. In Mike's case, his avatar shows someone playing guitar. Perhaps this means he is a musician .....so he could post a video of his band. Or perhaps a slide show with his band's music playing.
I think it would be most fun if references to religion were kept out of it. This would give us a greater chance of being surprised by who it is.
Once again, I don't see any compelling reason to show your face if you are not comfortable - but share a video of something about you, something that is uniquely you and then let people vote on who they think it might be. In some cases, we might figure it out and not be surprised....but in other cases our preconceptions of or assumptions about each other may be completely wrong...

Besides, some people only THINK they are photogenically challenged when in fact they are not.
How about this: Strap a video camera to your hat and walk around meeting your friends at lunch. Or narrate a view of your garden.
