Would you die for your beliefs
Post #1I was just wondering how many of the people on this forum who would die for the religion you believe in. Unlike it is today, at least in America, if it was physically deleterious to your health to believe what you believe today would you still believe and rather die than changer your beliefs. If you went through assiduous torture, like that of Christians in the Middle East, do you think you would be able to maintain your religious views. I myself do not think I would be able to, however since I am not a Christian I do not think it is as hard for me to change my beliefs as it would be for those who are fervent believers in Christ. Christian or non-Christian it would take a valiant person to die for what you believe.

Post #2I am a little lost in the semantics of "religion"" and "belief," but I could not deny what I know, so I suspect I would die.Onorc wrote:I was just wondering how many of the people on this forum who would die for the religion you believe in. Post #3I meant to say your religious beliefs. Well if you truly would die for your religious beliefs then you are a more valiant person than many.twobitsmedia wrote:I am a little lost in the semantics of "religion"" and "belief," but I could not deny what I know, so I suspect I would die.Onorc wrote:I was just wondering how many of the people on this forum who would die for the religion you believe in. Post #4I would, if need be. That's how you can tell the real Christians from the masqueraders.Onorc wrote:I was just wondering how many of the people on this forum who would die for the religion (religious beliefs - EZ) you believe in.

Post #5Tell me Easyrider, if we make up a scenario such as: The United States (your country) has now the best school system in the world (thanks to european support) and is educating its young about the world and reality. They now accept Evolution, Global Warming, Gravity and other facts, as well as being aware that the world is not younger then China (ie, 10 000 years).Easyrider wrote:I would, if need be. The government then decrees that all ignorant people of United States whom deny facts such as evolution, the holocaust and such things, are to be terminated for the good of the world.
Would you still hold your belief, rather then accepting reality? And as a point Easyrider, would you do this even if there are scientist and intellectuals whom know far more then you could dream of, and are far superior then you in all ways, and they are telling you that You are Wrong.
Would you still hold your stance, and if so, Why?
T: ´I do not believe in gravity, it´s just a theory.´
Re: Would you die for your beliefs
Post #6You'll need to be more specific than that. Micro vs. Macro evolution? A faulty argument that says the "Bible claims a 6,000 year old earth"? Christians denying the Holocaust? Is there a movement going on with that that I missed? Believing one way or the other about global warming is unbiblical? Where do you get this stuff?Scrotum wrote:

You've created a pile of strawmen. Go to the heart of the matter and try to get us to deny Christ, and then you'll see a movement that hell itself can't persuade to give up that belief.Scrotum wrote:

As for your "intellectuals," smarts don't necessarily equate with wisdom, especially Godly wisdom, so I have reservations about that too.

Why do you refuse to answer a simple detailed question. A YES or NO would suffice, but you can not do that, is this not a debating forum? Do you understand what "debating" constitutes? You'll need to be more specific than that. Micro vs. Macro evolution? A faulty argument that says the "Bible claims a 6,000 year old earth"? No i asked you a simple question which you refused to answer, on a debating forum tsalking about Christianity and Religion, in which you are a Christian. I guess you are here for some other reason then to debate. You've created a pile of strawmen. You made muddled arguments, Scrotum, as I noted. There's too many complexities that are involved that you tried to simplify.Scrotum wrote:Why do you refuse to answer a simple detailed question. Tell me: Was the Cambrian explosion of new life forms the result of punctuated equilibrium ("special creation") as some exolutionist's claim, or the result of gradualism as other evolutionist's believe? Get your own house in order first and then you can try to convince us one way or the other.

"Punctuated equilibrium" is just explaining how evolution can proceed at different paces , depending on circumstances. It has nothing to do with 'special creation' at all. To claim that it does is most dishonest.Easyrider wrote:You made muddled arguments, Scrotum, as I noted. Observation:
This is more of a discussion than a debate. Moving it to General Chat.

It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.
