Did Moses Exist?

Post by POI »

I created the 'Exodus' thread here (viewtopic.php?t=40622), after being inspired to do so when Otseng made the (paraphrased) statement -- "if the Exodus did not happen, then we must question Biblical veracity".

From there, the topic of "Moses" ultimately came up; which is what I believe eventually prompted the follow-up topic, created here (viewtopic.php?t=42501).

However, since it seems to be imperative and crucial for Moses to be a real character, let us examine....?

For Debate:

1) As compared to other claimed figures from ancient antiquity, such as Alexander the Great, Pontius Pilate, and-the-like, how exactly does the claim(s) of "Moses" stack up as a real character? Meaning, if the (confidence-level) for Alexander and Pilate are fairly high, due to 'evidence(s)', how exactly does 'Moses' compare on the "confidence-meter"? (i.e.) Low, medium, high, or other?

2) If we have low-level confidence that a "Moses" really existed, as compared to other said characters from antiquity, does this jeopardize Biblical veracity claims in any way(s)?

3) Can one even logically remain a believer without accepting "Moses" as being a real dude from history?

4) Outside the Bible's say-so, what evidence suggests a "Moses" actually existed?
In case anyone is wondering... The avatar quote states the following:

"I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness."

And/or it may also take 3) indoctrination and/or 4) cognitive dissonance - as it relates to special pleading, when using the historical method to assess claims from ancient antiquity.

Sure, some do believe for those reasons.

Could not the Egyptians, Syrians and Arabians propagated the untruthful claim that they in fact were the victors and promoted a very limited record of their own history ?

- if it were not for the " WORLD NEWS report , video camera and audio recording " the Egyptians, Syrians and Saudi Arabians would today be more successful in changing the modern historical reality of their defeat.

the Egyptians and Canaanites in ancient times had full opportunity to suppress and extinguish and omit and delete all history about the Hebrew people.

the Egyptians and Canaanites in ancient times have had
2000 - 3000 years to completely rewrite their history with no modern technology in recording and chronicle to sustain any truthful fact,.. the reality is that these Egyptian and Canaanite civilizations have next to nothing regarding recorded historical data, their written record of history is very limited and manipulated and focusing upon what the powerful and those with tools to leave a permanent form of inscribed record and what they to deemed as worthy to preserve and escribe and show as evident artifact history record

Please remember ................................

Muslims literally treated the entire Pre Islamic world just exactly as treated - the entire Gospels and the Torah. -

the entire Gospels and the Torah

all

Completely, smashed into dust, destroyed and nothing but trash and scraps of rubble that never mattered.

Muslims literally incorporated pagan traditions and pagan names and pagan dates and ceremonies about a pagan religion they later pounded into dust and rubble,

incorporating many pagan traditions and practices from the old world directly into their new religion while destroying everything from the old pagan world.

While also - claiming to receive prophecy, revelation and spiritual claims about a deity called Allah –– while they also completely discarded and destroyed all the records of all manuscripts in their old world as Mohammad destroyed 360 different pagan idols that had existed at His time and their history and names and characters are completely erased from all history.

We do not even know half of them and the ones we do know were found by Non Muslims and external Islamic sources.

Muslims provide no history, information or knowledge of anything from the Pre Islamic world.  How much more would the Egyptian and Canaanite world erase the history of Moses.

Even for Islam - Moses would never have been a part of Arabian history had Mohammud and his Quran not existed.

Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;  he laid wait .......... in the way.............{ Amalek } he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee,

even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary;
