Original Sin

Post by Zzyzx »

Is the Adam and Eve story true? Unless the story is true, the concept of ‘original sin’ has no meaning, and there was no need for Jesus to 'save' humanity from 'original sin'.

From: Ebsco (dot) com
“Original sin is a Christian doctrine that teaches all humans inherit a sinful nature from Adam and Eve due to their disobedience to God in the Garden of Eden. This condition affects every person, making them morally and spiritually flawed from birth, and is often seen as a barrier to a relationship with God.”

From: U.S. Catholic (dot) org
"According to Christian belief, Jesus' sacrifice is seen as a means to save humanity from original sin, which is the state of sin inherited from Adam and Eve. This salvation is believed to be available to all who have faith in Him."

I believe the story is true. But, I think the Biblical idea is that people need to be saved from their own sins.

Because world looks like what would be the result of it.

Also, I trust the Bible, because things go as told in it* and also because it shows great wisdom.

* For example Jews being scattered and later gathered back, as it is happening nowadays.

The story is true because the Lord God is real and forever living, and He still communicates with people to this day.

You're essentially saying that you believe the story because the Bible is the word of God and you know it's the word of God because it says it's the word of God and you know that what it says is right because it's the word of God.

(BTW----the story of Adam and Eve is part of the Jewish Bible, and the Jews don't believe in original sin.)

I believe the story because the main character in the story itself - the Almighty God - is real and forever-living. He still speaks with people across all generations.

You’ve heard nothing yet from those ‘everyone’s gods’ you quoted, have you?

How would you know what gods I----or others----have or haven't heard from?
