The Mindset of Judas and the Freedom of God
Post #1I found this clip interesting on a number of levels. Psychologically, theologically, inter-personally....
It got me to thinking how, if God is indeed a person, whether in the form of Jesus or someone else, then that means, not only free will, but a certain variance with regard to who God calls as his own. Not that God is partial (I do not believe God is partial), but that there is a certain level at which God can only dispose himself with those he is in relationship with a certain way. We cannot impose our relationship on God anymore than we can our freedom of will. God is, in a sense, the Absolute gauge by which to judge any one person's relationship to him. He is not an AI chat-bot that will accept flattery and by that same instance ingratiate himself with us. Ultimately, we are always at arm's length when it comes to the space of God.
I do not believe God is an AI chat-bot. At the same time, like all things, God follows his own natural Essence, and that Essence, by its nature cannot but be All-Loving, All-Merciful. The Supreme God cannot however yield to our personal whims when it comes to how He wishes to display that All-Loving, All-Merciful Nature. Unless, of course, he would consent in a fashion which would in the first place be agreeable to him.... God cannot but be Himself. Just as any finite being can only be oneself. But, simultaneously, the way that plays out in the arena of Action cannot so easily translate as in the domain of pure Being.
We cannot imagine something and superimpose that upon God. That is not treating God as God. However, I believe God Himself is the Supreme Magician, and can imagine Himself in a variety of ways that, we may certainly hope, will tend, however circuitously in accordance with His Sweet Will, toward us to redound back upon Him. That is, at any rate, my Hope.
Your faith is beautiful.
