[A questioner asked through Śrī Anil: Suppose there is a son of a terrorist, who learned all bad things from his father from a young age. Will he incur sin for his bad deeds?]
Swami replied: Sin is incurred by both the son and the terrorist father. One may think that the son is innocent, but it is not so. The son was born in that bad family due to his prārabdha karma, which is the residual part of the fruits of his deeds done in the past birth. That prārabdha karma is spent in giving the soul a new birth. The new birth granted will be good or bad, as per the deeds done by that soul. When the prārabdha is bad, even if you separate him from the bad influence of his father, his own nature acquired by him as a result of his bad deeds will eventually grow and get expressed.

Post #3Well, God says in the Bible that He will visit the fathers for the sins of the children. Deut 5:9
It simply means that if you taught your children to kill, rape, worship a false god, etc., You will be held accountable for their attetude towards these offences.
However, the child will be held accountable for it is his conscience which God placed in his soul.
You see the fear and helplessness of the person you torture, rape or kill.
You hear their agony, there must be some compassion which tells you it is wrong!
You know the false witnessing against an inocent person results in harm, the theft of his possessions causes poverty and loss.
You know adultery breaks all trust, hurts partners, and you live with your conscience.
It is the conscience of the Father who taught this that will be his judge, and the offences of the Child will burn his conscience.
As jesus said, if you dont repent and believe in Him, you already condemned yourself.
John 3:18

Post #4You've got that backwards. The sins of the fathers are visited "to the children" (עַל־בָּנִ֛ים). The children are punished for things that their fathers did, not vice versa.Mousetrap wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 9:19 am Well, God says in the Bible that He will visit the fathers for the sins of the children. Deu 5:9 You shall not bow down yourself unto them, nor serve them: for I Yahuah Elohayka am a jealous El, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
Deu 5:10 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and guard my commandments.
It is only by pure bias that anyone would twist the verse to suit some illogical understanding of the verse.
The thing God will visit is the "Iniquity of the Fathers",
Not the "Children of the father" because of the Father's sin!
If the verse read, as you want it to, it would have said:
"I Yahuah Elohayka am a jealous El, visiting the children unto the third and fourth generation, for the iniquity of the fathers..."
How the heck did you read it that way.
There is no intellectual and logical mind that would ever think that God would punish children for the sin of the Fathers.
Nice try!

Re: Does the son of a terrorist, who learns evil from his father from a young age incur sin?
The preposition in Hebrew is applied separately to children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Your "Elohayka" is just "Elohim" with a suffix that means "your." That means the more-or-less literal translation is this:
"I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous god, visiting the sin of fathers upon sons and upon the third and upon the fourth."
That's just how Hebrew works.
I agree, but that's still what the Bible says that God said. Maybe intellectual and logical minds don't think that part of the Bible is true.
Thanks!

Post #7The Sins of the Fathers upon the children, will be visited by God.
Now, my interpretation is.
The Fathers taught their children to sin.
The children does the sin
Point 1. God will hold the father accountable for the sin he taught the Children. This is by default anyhow.
Do you agree?
Point 2. God visits the children to see if they committed the same sin. He holds them accountable by default.
Do you agree?
Now your interpretation is.
God goes to the children of someone and punishes them for the sins which their father did!
Huhhhh!!!

Hi Otseng
I just realized that it is impossible to take this one verse and to say, "Hey pal, you are reading it with bias!"
If one does, a rule is broken!
Sorry, but I will never be able to debate whilst being micro managed to sooth any Atheist or Muslims' feelings.
I think it wise to leave the forum.
Greetings.

Re: Does the son of a terrorist, who learns evil from his father from a young age incur sin?
Post #10This is the only fair thing, and it's why I conclude that even if there is a god, we don't really need religion. We may need communities but that's different.
If God did not give everyone a conscience, which pointed true north, no one could rightly be held accountable for anything if they were lied to, and men do lie.
Therefore a fair god would do this - he'd give everyone a conscience that worked. (Now let's pretend sociopaths don't exist or are NPCs to get this to continue to work.)
Why the heck, then, would I ever, ever, ever listen to anything external which might be a lie? If I assume a fair god - and we can write off why he allows people to lie, to free will - then I have to assume he gave me all the tools I need, to do the right thing.
