Is an Agnostic Frame of Mind not Indispensable to, at least many, on the spiritual quest?

I happen to think so now.

It's been a long transition, and although I still regard myself as a theist, I realize that my faith can only go so far at times. I am not, at least not yet, a spiritual athlete. That said, I still have faith, at least the rudiments thereof, and I do wish to go back to it, but, not yet, not yet. Not until I have been primed, or not. In which case I can only be true to myself.

I have the sense now that Agnosticism, about many propositions besides even God, can be a good relaxant, a good loosener of the fixities of the ego. In that sense, I am also somewhat of a Buddhist, being touch and go with concepts that come my way and not being too attached to them. I am not an atheist: I do not have a firm opinion about the non-existence or even just the "lack" thereof. No, God assuredly does exist in some form, and we may debate that. I simply leave the debate open.

Of course, on the negative side is that agnosticism may foster a sense of vague indifference, which may lead to a despair, either intense or dismal. Agnosticism is in one sense rudderless. It does not amount to a conviction.

However, I myself need true conviction about my own self, and agnosticism provides a good prolegomena, a good segueway, into that field of awareness and self-discovery.

Ultimately, I feel better.. lighter, more amenable to objective truth. Once you've slant-tilted your shades, in one sense, there's no going back.

So is Agnosticism a good thing, moreover, a Productive thing? I say yes. It leads somewhere for some people.
Your faith is beautiful.
