THE FUTURE

Post by onewithhim »

Haven't we all, at one time or another, wondered what the future will be like? Experts of men have had a spotty reputation as most of their predictions have proved untrue.

What does the Bible tell us? "The God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed....It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever." (Daniel 2:44, Revised Standard Version)

Is this good news? Of course, when we realize what God's Kingdom is. It is a real government that will replace all of the existing governments on the earth and stand forever. Stability and order will be brought to people on the earth. What will life be like under this government?

NO MORE WAR (Psalm 46:9)
NO MORE SICKNESS (Isaiah 33:24)
NO MORE FOOD SHORTAGE (Psalm 72:16)
NO MORE PAIN, SORROW AND DEATH (Revelation 21:4)

These are just some of the promises made in the Bible about God's Kingdom, and there are more. God has promised all these wonderful things for the future. All righteously inclined people can avail themselves of these promises. Does this sound good to you?

What are your viewpoints about the future? Will it be the same, better, or worse than it is now?
It will be worse. We believe what the Bible says in the last days, that all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
(2 Tim 3:1-12)

3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
KJV
Yes, the immediate future, in this system of things, will be worse---for a short time. Then after Jesus comes back and Armageddon takes place, the future will be much better! The Bible describes a future that is wonderful for mankind right here on this beautiful planet. (See the OP above, post #1.)
When Jesus comes the second time, the dead in Christ shall rise (resurrected) first and the living faithful shall caught up together to meet the Lord in the air and be with Lor for a for a thousand years in heaven.

1 Thess 4:16-17
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
KJV

Rev 20:6
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
KJV
Yes. That doesn't look like the future will be worse without relief. I said in my post that it will be worse for a short time now, with Jesus' coming again to make it better.

What would be the future after 1Thess 4:61,17. Saints, resurrected dead and alive caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Where they go then after that event?

All believers will not be caught up to heaven. Only the relatively few anointed Christians who are to reign with Christ in heaven over the earth. Who are they going to rule over? The billions of mankind who are on the earth and will be there forever.

"For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD [YHWH], they shall inherit the earth....The meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace....The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever." (Psalm 37:9,11,29, KJV)

Can you see that there will be believers living on the earth forever? Isn't that what the Scripture is saying?

The Bible says nothing about spirits living on the earth. Those relatively few people that have been anointed with the Spirit will be in heaven to be with Jesus. The only spirit bodies that there will be will be in heaven. God created man to live on the earth in physical bodies and his mind hasn't changed. He took Adam from the dust of the earth, which is very physical. (Genesis 2:7) He has said that those on the earth will enjoy peace with the animals (Isaiah 11:6-9) and there would be no animals in heaven; and wouldn't a little boy be leading a physical animal? It will always be a very physical earth.

"Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." (Genesis 2:7, NASB)
"And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy will lead them..." (Isaiah 11:6, NASB)

The verses below mentioned that believers in Christ, dead will be resurrected and the alive will caught up together to meet the Lord.
Where in that verse that some believers will be left behind?

1 Thess 4:14-17
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
NKJV

The Bible says nothing about spirits living on the earth. Those relatively few people that have been anointed with the Spirit will be in heaven to be with Jesus. The only spirit bodies that there will be will be in heaven. God created man to live on the earth in physical bodies and his mind hasn't changed. He took Adam from the dust of the earth, which is very physical. (Genesis 2:7)
And man will return to the dust -- also very physical.

Then what?
Then there is the Resurrection when people will be brought back to life to live in Paradise. Jesus said: "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming in which all that are in their graves shall hear his voice, and shall come out." (John 5:28, KJV)

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Obviously there will be those who are left behind because the Scripture says that "the righteous will inherit the earth and live on it forever." (Psalm 37:29....see also verses 9 and 11.)
