Dinosaurs and God

Post by AdrianB »

Hi,
Could anyone shed any light on where Christianity and God stands on the subject of dinosaurs? Who created them? God? And when? Did they really exist millions of years ago? And if so, why were they created first (if they were created) and why such a long time before Man?

Mortal means it will or can die. Immortal means that it cannot and will not die. Something or someone who is immortal is not mortal. Something which is mortal is not immortal. Is God mortal or immortal?

Do you have any evidence for this belief?
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

I am making an appeal to ancient man and ancient stories.
It seems that was the appeal often made of religions. The one thing the ancient world hated was new ideas. They were always suspicious of ideas that didn’t have ancient roots. Christianity laid claim to ancient Judaism as well as other even more ancient ideas.
But the most ancient gods seem to have been mortal and used means to be immortal.
Elixirs, fruit and magic were often withheld from ancient man so he would not achieve immortality. Immortality seems to be a newer idea when it is meant to live forever or has always lived. Even the ancient stories leave hints such as “ancient of days” and ‘the beginning and the end”. The ideas have an interesting evolution.

According to Christian theology, all that existed before the universe was created was God. Then what is the universe made of? Could it be that the universe then is made of God? Are parts of the universe mortal? Yes, people, plants and animals die. If these things are made of God then surely this must mean that in this sense, God is mortal. As for the rest of it, God is immortal

No I have no evidence that I can give others for this, and I don't pretend to.

You are starting to sound like Whitehead and Hartshorne.
They argue for a God that has a contingent nature.
Most theist like to talk about a god beyond time and space that is unknowable.
