Here is what the Bible states:
Revelation 7:1-4 "After these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel."
Then the Scripture lists 12,000 from each of the following 12 tribes: Judah, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin.
The next main passage that describes the 144,000 is Revelation 14:1-5: "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion [Mount Zion], and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile [deceit]: for they are without fault before the throne of God."
The Bible informs those who would study GOD's word, that the 144,000 are of the nation of Israel who are sealed during the GREAT TRIBULATION after the CATCHING AWAY of CHRIST's CHURCH. These 144,000 are of 12 specific tribes of Israel and are VIRGINS. So, likely they are young Jewish men who come to a saving knowledge of JESUS CHRIST as their MESSIAH, and are sealed by GOD to go out as missionaries to spread the GOSPEL message so that others might be saved --- not receiving the mark of the Beast under the control of the Anti-Christ, the Beast, and the False Prophet. Unfortunately, those so saved during the GREAT TRIBULATON will likely be martyred in vast numbers by the Anti-Christ.
What the Bible Specifically reveals regarding the 144,000. Who disagrees?

Post #2There are many knots here that have to be cleared up before one is to understand who the 144,000 is.LittleNipper wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 9:24 pm Here is what the Bible states:

First is when to view something as literal and when to view it as symbolic. Much of the book of Revelation isn't to be taken literally. One shouldn't look to themselves to interpret the meaning of the symbolism in this book. One shouldn't also just accept what they are told something means in Revelation by someone else. Only the Bible can explain what the terms mean.
Starting with the term Israel.
In Revelation, is this a term speaking of the literal nation of Israel? According to the scriptures, someone's ancestry isn't a factor. Galatians 6:15-16 tells us that, "For neither is circumcision anything nor is uncircumcision, but a new creation is. As for all those who walk orderly by this rule of conduct, peace and mercy be upon them, yes, upon the Israel of God."
There are other scriptures that say that being in union with Christ one's ancestry doesn't matter. It has everything to do with their actions and faith. (1 Cor 7:19, Gal 5:6, Col 3:10,11)
According to the Bible, a member of the 'Israel of God' isn't limited to just a person of Jewish decent. With this understanding that Paul wrote under the direction of Almighty God, the whole interpretation quoted above unravels.

Post #3When the Bible says so many from each tribe, that would seem a direct reference to be regarded as specific to the group. I Cor 7:19, Gal 5:6, Col 3:10,11 are speaking regarding saints of then and now. The inference there isn't end times prophetic as we find in Revelations. So one must willingly read the entire book in question to determine such reference points, or at least a chapter or two. Who is the audience, and as such it would seem that except where mention in Revelations these letters (while eventually for everyone to study and learn) were originally directed to various NEW TESTAMENT churches in Galatia, Corinth, and Colossae. Revelations on the other hand is more specific to end time events.2timothy316 wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 9:35 amThere are many knots here that have to be cleared up before one is to understand who the 144,000 is.LittleNipper wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 9:24 pm Here is what the Bible states:

Post #5I now see why this forum is lackluster and slowly dying. All anyone need do is look at the number of posting and their dates... It's entire because of your tendency to throw any thread that you don't like into the back of the closet and slam the door. I will not be visiting this forum again, and so you may keep your warnings to yourself. I hope you enjoy YOUR FORUM. Good bye!Tcg wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 12:34 pm Moderator Action
