I open this thread to encourage people to express their ideas on the topics being discussed in the ZZ vs. ER debate thread.
Of course anyone can post in the original thread because one of us declined opening it in Head to Head (that would have been a controlled one-on-one debate. However, it might be more appropriate to post comments in this thread.
The "questions for debate" are:
1. Does the debate make any sense or is it a waste of time and energy?
2. Would you like to see more one-on-one debates?
3. Is the idea of a “comments on the debate thread” appealing to you?

The one-on-one debate idea is good, if both sides treated it like a real debate with facts and information supporting their assertions from many sources. But unfortunately that seems to never happen.
What do you expect when you debate with someone who only has only one source of information?

Don't give up completely Werkk it may be possible to arrange a one-on-one debate with a conscientious, rational, thinking person who happens to be Christian. I'm working on it.wrekk wrote:The one-on-one debate idea is good, if both sides treated it like a real debate with facts and information supporting their assertions from many sources. That is a limiting factor. I certainly would not debate any topic on which my information came from one book and its derivatives, or from unsupported dogma.wrekk wrote:What do you expect when you debate with someone who only has only one source of information?
The weak point of being unable to supply independent, impartial, verifiable evidence to support claims is an extreme disadvantage for religionists when unable to "preach to the choir". Perhaps most assume that biblical quotations are convincing evidence to those who regard the bible as fable and fiction.
However, there seems to be a great deal of interest in debating on the side that has only one source of information.

Debater Hat on:
You haven't tried to go one on one with me ZZ. The only one here who has is McC and we are having trouble disagreeing enough to find a good debate topic right now.
PM me if you want to go for something in the one on one. We can hammer it out before jumping in.

This thread clearly belongs in the chat section so I am moving it there. I will leave a shadow for a time so as to track this movement.

It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.

Achilles, I know one thing the two of you don't agree on.

Z is humoring Easy. The debate actually ended when ER failed utterly to debate topics I raised, nor is he able to.

When I'm done with Zzyzx I'll come looking for you. Hopefully then you'll have something more credible than what I've seen from you lately. Until then study up, sport. The Duke of Vandals wrote:Z is humoring Easy. The debate actually ended when ER failed utterly to debate topics I raised, nor is he able to.

I have yet to see you refer to any reference outside of the very book you are trying to prove is not a myth.
Have you ever heard of anything known as 'circular evidence'. So far, you have failed to live up to your claims.

Well, you've been presented with the truth by numerous Christians around here and you haven't been able to comprehend it yet, so that tells me whatever else you are arguing is probably just another blind squirrel hunt.goat wrote:Have you ever heard of anything known as 'circular evidence'.
