Food at the Proper Time or Truth at the Proper Time?

Post by Skeptical »

I have a a question about JWs, but I am asking both JWs and non-JWs this question. Therefore, according to JWs' interpretation of Matthew 24:45
45 “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
wouldn't that verse more appropriately have the meaning of 'truth at the proper' time for JWs? Because if what has been fed to JWs by the faithful slave at one time wasn't true or correct, but gets later changed to something that is then actually true and correct, then wouldn't either the meaning of that verse or what it should actually say is 'truth at the proper time'?

Any comments?

[Spiritual] food is the truth found in the Bible. The slave of Matthew 24 gives (prepares and serves) the food , he doesn't create it. So even if the Slave has an incorrect understanding of the truth, the truth in the bible that he is serving is unchanging.
To illustrate : A cook prepares a meal (perhaps boiled potatoes and asparagus) in a restaurant. He he prepares it to the best of his ability but the meal is not perfect; the potatoes a little undercooked, maybe not enough salt. But you're hungry (its time to eat) and he brought you the food at the proper time. Is there something wrong with the potatoes themselves? Did God make them come out of the ground wrong? Did the salt malfunction... is the asparagus genetically modified? in short is the food wrong or does the cook have to improve his skills?

Jesus did not say the Slave would be approved if he "never gets anything wrong" , he said the slave "... is approved if he gives "food at the proper time?" In other words "feed them, when they are be hungry" The slave class may have gotten things wrong, lacked tact on occasions, but they produced the meal when asked to do so (and have improved in skills as time has progressed) and for this can be pronounced "happy".
