I think your crystal ball has failed you, sir. You might want to get one without an ass stamped on it. Elephants are in vogue.
Elephants are not in vogue. People
hate what the GOP is doing: no covid relief, no affordable health care, no renewable energy investment, no limit on who can buy an assault weapon, tolerance of a violent insurrection......across the board, the elephants' positions are deeply unpopular. What makes the donkeys worse is that they
enable the elephants at every turn with their refusal to function as an opposition party. The two major parties are the stars of the corporate snake oil show and no one will get anything worthwhile out of either of them. The sooner the nation abandons the two-party toxic waste dump and creates a healthy political structure, the better.
What I meant by "elephants are in vogue" is that this president's rating has slipped off the cliff because his policies are hurting people and the whole country as well. Elephants are in vogue because by all indications come midterms donkeys (and I like donkeys) will get a beat-down. If this holds true, your all-inclusive statement that "people
hate what the GOP is doing" is blatantly wrong.
It amazes me how politically divided and blind this country is that the left and right are continually at each other's throats and can't imagine anything beneficial from the other side. Before we can work together we have to stop hating one another. I disagree that we should abandon the two-party system that has worked quite well for over 200 years. IMHO, the far-left socialist radicals are systematically trying to dismantle our beloved democracy and they have gotten very vicious about it.
Politics in the US is portrayed much like a sport and serious political discourse is all but absent from our TVs, the general public largely excluded from the discussions.
The political ads on TV recently make this clear, most of the ads are embarrassing to watch with their juvenile character attacks and staged images.
The fact that socialism is to all intents and purposes an expression
of democracy, where the benefits to the majority
not the minority are what counts, is pretty much unknown to most.
Nor do we hear Republicans complain much about the welfare state for the rich, even many Democrats don't complain much here with exceptions like Sanders.
Trump tried to illegally overthrow this democracy yet you write "far-left socialist radicals are systematically trying to dismantle our beloved democracy" it seems facts don't matter any more!
The US is becoming a population starved of truth, perhaps the most brainwashed nation on earth, the people are just pawns to the powerful who are artificially labelled "left" and "right" to maintain a pretense of difference when in many ways they stand for the same thing.
The clown Trump is partly attributable to this, by starving the people of honest factual analysis and promoting pettiness it created an opportunity for someone like Trump a master of pettiness, sarcasm, abuse, name calling, lies to outdo the rest of them, if people are conditioned to see politics in a shallow and superficial manner then we must prepare for more Trumps.
Really this BS about "socialism" and "the left" is absurd in the face of long standing traditions like school buses and police. I mean should people need Law Enforcement Insurance before they can expect their lives to be protected against danger?
Should a person's 911 call begin with handing over policy and coverage details before dispatching officers?
I've never heard any Republican argue that yet why not when they decry offering a nationalized health system to the people? Some will cry that the costs of developing drugs is high and so on, yet some 40% of the costs of new drugs is actually public money, again, welfare for the rich.
