This but not that?

Why do people believe in some things and not their based on the same weight of evidence?

All across the world there are many religions, this are passed down mainly through indoctrination as a child or conversion of the weak and disenfranchised. This results in religions being distributed geographically.

What makes you so sure your religion is right? And not say Islam, even though they are (at least at their core) based on the same faith without further evidence.

The first sentence confuses me. The phrase "...and not their based on the same weight of evidence?" may be perfectly fine, but I can't make heads or tails of it. Would you elaborate, please?
