Hi everyone i am ashley, i am a senior in high school age 17 O:)

my mom has always gone to church and what-not
and tried getting me to go.
I agreed but did not like it...
i felt in my mind
how can you bealive some invisable man up in the sky, he gives you 10 things not to do, and if you do them you go to a fiery world? :confused2:
does that should like love to you?
personally me it did not
and then to think, i get a person on my game messaging me daily saying "God loves you' EVERY DAY! i usually curse at him and not speak to him for a bit. But we had a heated debate on religion and i said"Tell me how you bealive something that has no proven facts NON" and he replys "because i have faith" , In retaliation i said "what if you are wrong?, what if there is nothing and you wasted your whole life"? and he replyed "i would have done it out of love"
Mind you, he is about 13  , but how are you going to waste your entiere life on something that may not exist :-k . Then i relized, i am Atheists because i have had so many discustions on this that it is entierlly to confusing so Atheists is the way to go in my opinion. :D
But if anyone has anything to say otherwise i gues...enlighten me :-s
but also my mind may not be changed easly :P
my mind is not easly corrupted

Biker wrote:Should atheists be allowed to celebrate CHRISTmas, or be on vacation because of the celebration of CHRISTS birth?
Look like the company I work for will be bringing in xmas day working. So maybe next year I’ll be working.
Biker wrote:I think all heathen unbelieving atheists should get their own holiday, and have to work on this one.
I think you're right. Lets make 25th December athiest day. You can have whichever day of the year Christian scholars can prove to be the birth day of your Christ figure.
Biker wrote:Maybe antichrist day, or scrooge day, or unbelieving humourless snobday, you know something along those lines would be appropriate.
Well not antichrist day because atheism is no more anti Christ as it is anti Mohammed, anti Vishnu and so forth. Scrooge encountered ghosts and spirits. More stuff atheists reject. So that’ll not work either. Humourless snob day? Well I don’t find that funny at all.
Biker wrote:atheists also should not be so precocious to say Merry Christmas to anyone as it is nothing but ingenuous and meaningless and facetious, to them.
Happy Winterval Biker.
Biker wrote:Actually they should go start their own country, because they are reaping the benefit of God given Christian blessings in this one.
The world extends beyond the shores of America. Here’s hoping you guys don’t turn yourselves into a theocracy.
Biker wrote:Have a Merry blessed CHRISTmas atheists, because of the all true and just God, Jesus Christ!
Don't forget, He died for you too! But your to blind, arrogant, and self loving to receive it.
Can’t see what you are saying. Probably beneath me to bother with. I think the real problem here is us atheists are just too pretty.

In other words, once you are a believer, you will not listen to reason that contradicts your current beliefs.

When you receive truth from God, you get reasoning so solid that to think about you were listening to human "reasoning" before would seem so foolish. Truth is like a rock.

ps edit: Sometimes Christians will not yet receive truth and they don't yet understand, but we trust the "Rock" anyways. I can see why you would think we're not reasonable sometimes. That's why we have faith and then when we receive truth, we will also have understanding.
So ask God, He is not scary once you know Him.

No! Not scary at all! But TheHate, just make sure that you do get to know Him, or he'll sent you to a Hell-pit where you will suffer agonising torture for all time.
Hell is where God is not, like darkness is where there is no light.

But, according to many Christians, god is EVERYPLACE. Isn't that a contradiction?

"Tell me how you bealive something that has no proven facts NON"
To PROVE a fact
TO BE PROVEN 1: God loves you.

LOVE is proven in DEEDS and depends not on FEELINGS or EMOTIONS. FEELINGS can fade. LOVE is eternal.

BACKGROUND 2a: God created Man for fellowship and put them in the Garden of Eden to take care of it.
BACKGROUND 2b: One of God's best angels rebelled against God. Seems like quite a story eh? Of a good guy turned bad. WHY you ask? The only person in the whole wide universe who would know of why one of the mightiest and most beautiful of angels, named Lucifer - meaning "Day Star", would go astray let alone a puny creation such as Man. He tells us in the Bible.
BACKGROUND 2c: Satan came into the picture to destroy God's creation.
BACKGROUND 2d: Man sinned against God by obeying the Serpent instead of God's instructions.
BACKGROUND 2e: Adam and Eve both died that day as God's Spirit left them. They were cast out from the Garden of Eden. Fellowship with God was broken, albeit temporarily.

PREMISE 3: God so loved you, God sent His One and Only Son

FACT 4a: There was a person named Jesus who claimed divine personage.
PREMISE 4b: Jesus loves you.

FACT 5a: Jesus worked miracles.
FACT 5b: Jesus died for us.

FACT 5a PROVES 4a
FACT 5b PROVES 4b,3 and 1
^CONCLUSION #1
*-But the purpose in his death, take note of verse 29 of Matthew 26:26-30 and also verse 22 of Luke 22:7-22.

PREMISE 6a God is love.
PREMISE 6b Whoever is born of God loves, for God is love.
PREMISE 6c Christians who are born of God should love.
PREMISE 6d
"i would have done it out of love"
he loves!

BACKGROUND 6e Love does not delight in evil.
BACKGROUND 6f Christians are taught not to "return evil for evil, insult for insult" in 1 Peter 3:9, not rather from Peter's instruction but from the teaching of love

THEREFORE when you curse him, does he curse back? IF he doesn't, then we have FACT 7 He is really loving you*to be proven.
6d PROVES 6c WHICH PROVES 6b and 6a
FACT 7 PROVES 6d
IF FACT 7 is true then 6a is true.
^CONCLUSION #2 (PENDING)

You appear to be holding your own quite well. Congratulations on coping with what at times appears to be a tough audience.

The key issue appears to be whether or not God exists. If God exists, then faith becomes very easy. If God does not exist, then faith is useless.

As much as I would love to present a series of proofs or arguments that verify beyond any doubt that God exists, I am not aware of any. Religion by it's very nature is a matter of faith and belief.

For me God exists based on my interpretation of various events in my life. I believe my interpretation is more correct than chalking those events up to random chance working in my favor. But, I am not a statistician so cannot prove that the various events were not a misinterpretation of random chance.

If you are comfortable with atheism, then that is where you should be. But never be afraid to explore theism as you continue on your life journey. May peace, joy, prosperity, and good health be with you and your family every day.

Sincerely,

OldChurchGuy

In my opinion, God just hasn't extracted Himself from hell YET. He's still omnipresent, but one day He will leave hell all together. But those who are in hell are those who spent their lives telling God they don't want to live with Him. It hadn't occurred to them that "living without God" is like living without air, synonymous for a loveless and painful lake of fire.

TheHate, if you want some evidence of God, here's a few things to start you off.

The fact that God seems so unlikely to you is because you likely ignore Him. Try reading the Bible, and understanding the morals it teaches, and you'll start to understand God's character. He'll stop being scary to you soon enough.
Also, the only belief other than Creationism is evolution, which is an unproved assumption.
If there is no God, then we are only a composition of matter and energy. If so, where did our consciousness come from? Where did our morals come from? Why does any of that even matter?
If there is no God, then explain the miraculous Resurrection of Christ, all His miracles, as well as the DOZENS of prophecies, foretold hunderds, thousands of years before Christ was born, that were fulfilled through Him.
And, if there is no God, then how did our planet get into just the right place to allow for human life? If it moved just slightly, then there would be no life on earth.
If there is no God, then Creationism is wrong. If Creationism is wrong, then where did everything come from? The only thing that can be said of an atheist's opinion on the beginning is that there was nothing, nothing exploded, became everything, and then living organisms were produced by some miraculous and mysterious "force" that causes all animals to evolve so that they can survive in their surroundings.

The truth is, though, that most understanding comes AFTER faith. But, like was said earlier, if you look for the truth, you will find it. Just be sure you're REALLY looking and not ignoring the idea of God. Besides, I like the idea of God. Heaven sounds a lot better than dying and going absolutely nowhere but the ground.

When you receive truth from God, you get reasoning so solid that to think about you were listening to human "reasoning" before would seem so foolish. Truth is like a rock.
I sure hope this "rock-solid" reasoning isn't what we see presented on these forums. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are keeping some killer argument/piece of evidence hidden away for the Rapture, when it will really be needed.
Sometimes Christians will not yet receive truth and they don't yet understand, but we trust the "Rock" anyways.
So that's your explanation for the Christian arguments that differ from yours?
I can see why you would think we're not reasonable sometimes. That's why we have faith and then when we receive truth, we will also have understanding.
Again - the common Christian claim that God sends them special information no one else can understand. Seems to me that this is exactly the same as a non-existant God sending no information to die-hard faithfuls who refuse to acknowledge the reason of non-believers.

In my opinion, God just hasn't extracted Himself from hell YET. He's still omnipresent, but one day He will leave hell all together.
And how did you receive this information? Did God tell you this?
But those who are in hell are those who spent their lives telling God they don't want to live with Him.
I never told God that. I didn't say anything to God. If he exists - I'd love to get to know him. There's just no way of knowing that he exists.
It hadn't occurred to them that "living without God" is like living without air, synonymous for a loveless and painful lake of fire.
I didn't ask for God to create me, when he knew full well he was going to have to punish me for all time. I would have rathered non-existance to a Hell of is own making.
