Is it evidence for or against religions if they came from America?
For instance Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses. Are there more? Scientology. Any more?
I would argue it is evidence against the religion because America has quite literally nothing the to do with the Bible. What other evidence flows from a religion coming from America?

Post #1411 Corinthians {8:5} For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) {8:6} But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him.
You mentioned this when I said that Paul never wrote a sentence about anything that Jesus said or did. That is Paul writing, telling, speaking.....
I tell you. Paul never wrote a sentence about Jesus, apart from last meal, death, resurrection ....nothing.

Post #142oldbadger wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 1:40 amBut your bible doesn't show YHWH........ it changes that to Jehovah.kjw47 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 7:16 pm
Psalm 83:18--in most older bibles-- That they may know, you whose name is YHWH(Jehovah) you alone are the most high over the earth.
Every scholar on earth knows the tetragramoton=YHWH was in every spot of OT where-GOD or LORD all capitols is, nearly 6800 places=quoted in the NT nearly 200 spots.
Other bibles changing YHWH to 'God' etc aren't lying, they are just using the name that English speakers recognise.
I wonder what a Spanish bible shows for YHWH? Or a German one?
Some Christians call YHWH 'yahway' (phonetic) ........ not wrong.
The name Jehovah came from YHWH. YHWH is Hebrew, we dont speak Hebrew thus its why there is Job, Jeremiah, Joshua--there is no J in Hebrew. You have no problem using their names like that.

Post #143You said it..... we don't speak Aramaic/Hebrew. We use our own languages. But 'Jehovah' is not an English word, it was drawn from somewhere else, I think.
Do you know where the name @jehhovah' came from, how it is formed?

Re: How many religions came from America?
Post #145It shows no word for God's name there. So in reality you must surely be wrong.
So......... how exactly do you find a name for God such as 'Jehovah' when the name shown was 'Yahwey'? I know that your bible shows this name but that had to come from a genuine source..... where is that, please?
As you can see, Jesus did not speak a name in these verses. The Aramaic (E & W) for father was 'Abba'..... I wonder what the Aramaic for 'Righteous' might be. @Transponder? ...any ideas?
John {17:25} O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. {17:26} And I
have declared unto them thy name, and will declare [it:] that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

i have full confidence Jesus kept his promise to keep on making his Fathers name known.

Post #147But like me it seems that you don't know when or where the name 'Jehovah' was ever first seen.
For accuracy I would guess that 'Yahwey' has to be the best way of writing the phonetic name.
The name of God is written and spoken differently in thousands of languages.

Re: How many religions came from America?
Post #150Absolutely! So people who don't use Hebrew can also use their own name for YHWH in their own languages. OK.... God or Lord doesn't seem so bad to me now.
And names like 'Peter' that Jesus never knew or used, they're ok for you as well I guess, although I would always think of Simon BarJonas as 'Cephas', because that's what Jesus called him.
If your God guided your translators to use names that Jesus never knew himself, then I guess you accept other churches doing the same. OK?
