How do I delete my account?

Can someone tell me how to delete my account? I don't want it anymore.

Suggestion:

Please add the question "I don't need my account anymore. How do I delete my account?" to the FAQ page, NOW. Then, either describe step-by-step how to do it or explain that it can't be done.

I am so sick of internet forums that do not provide an obvious method for cancelling and deleting an account or making it clear that account deletion is not allowed.
