Maunday Thursday

Post by rstrats »

Does anyone who is familiar with Maundy Thursday, the day during Holy Week which commemorates the washing of the feet and last supper of the Messiah with the apostles know what part of Thursday that this took place - during the night time at the beginning of Thursday, or during the daytime toward the end of Thursday?

I have no idea what "Maundy Thursday" is but biblically, Jesus would have washed his disciples feet sometime on Thursday afternoon. I would guess mid afternoon as it must havd been upon their arrival and the actual Passover meal was eaten in the evening.

Why do you think it happened on Thursday?

So, the Lord's Supper would have been on Friday night?

How else can you get at least a portion of three daytimes and at least a portion of three night times in the "heart of the hearth"?

Yes, what we would call Thursday night (Friday beginning at sundown)

I'm confused as to what you're saying here. I wonder if you could say it a different way.

For the Jews the day started in the evening. So Thursday evening would be considered the START of the next day (FRIDAY). If Jesus ate his last meal with his Apostles, on Thursday evening (after sunset) , it would be considered FRIDAY.

That's contradictory. First you say that Thursday started in the evening but then turn around and say that Thursday evening would be Friday.

Sorry I was "dumbing it down" for those that might not understand the Jewish system. Sorry to confuse you.
