He who restrains:
Christians have been warned, that before the Lord returns, 2 Thessalonians 2:3, "there will come a falling away first,' before the man of sin is revealed, also called the son of perdition."
2 Thessalonians 2:7-8, “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth (restrains, will do so) until he is taken out of the way. And then shall the Wicked (lawless one) be revealed, whom the Lord (Jesus) shall consume with the spirit (breath) of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders”
The counterwork to the above is the mystery of godliness.
1 Timothy 3:16, “Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God (Jesus) was manifest in the flesh, justified in the (Holy) Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
In 2 Thessalonians, we have three pronouns in these verses. So, we are speaking of male individuals.
Questions: Who do you think the restrainer is? And why?
And who is do you think the lawless one is?
Whoever the restrainer is when taken out of the way, the mystery will then be an open manifestation. A system of corrupt doctrine that will lead to the general apostasy, an apostasy that has existed since John's Day.

Post #2I believe that 2 Thess. refers to the Apostle John. After he died, the influence of the apostate "Christians" took over.placebofactor wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 5:10 pm He who restrains:

In I Timothy 3:16 the "God" that is being referred to is a god without an article, meaning little "g" god., referring to Jesus, and not God Almighty. We remember that Greek has no capital or lower-case letters, and no punctuation. So just because the KJV and others translate "god" with a big "G" that doesn't make it absolute that it is speaking about God Almighty.
Yet, Other versions say: "WHO was manifested in the flesh," (New American Bible referring to the solution to the mystery of devotion, which was Jesus' coming into the world, but it doesn't say anything about God being manifested.
Msgr R A Knox translates it like this: "No question of it, it is a great mystery we worship. Revelation made in human nature, justification won in the realm of the Spirit; a vision seen by angels, a mystery preached to the Gentiles; Christ in this world, accepted by faith, Christ, on high, taken up into glory." He doesn't mention "God" at all, just Christ.
The Revised Standard Version says: "HE was manifested in the flesh," not referring to God. In a footnote it says: some manuscripts read "WHO or WHICH," and don't translate the word as "God," even though some do. New American Standard Bible translates the word as "HE," as do the Revised Standard Version, American Standard Version, New International Version, and many others also.
A footnote in the American Standard Version says: "The word 'God' in place of 'He who', rests on NO SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE. Some ancient authorities read 'which.'"

He is the King of the Bottomless Pit. Once he is taken out of the way, the Beast can escape.
The final Beast/Antichrist.
The 'Falling Away' are the Angels that will fall.

Re: He who restrains
Post #6The Restrainer is the last Apostle, John. The Lawless One is the world empire of false religion, particularly Christendom, which sits as a god on its "throne." "Antichrist" is not a word to be found in Revelation. It is confused with the Beast, but is not the same. Antichrist has been around for centuries, even in Paul's day. The Beast is the combined governments of men, which fall far short of the pure holiness of God's own government---His "kingdom" that is prayed for when saying the "Lord's Prayer." If you look for a man to be the Beast and/or the Antichrist, you will be disappointed.
The "falling away" is what happened after John died, and what Paul warned about at Acts 20:29,30: "After my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among you and will not treat the flock with tenderness, and from among you men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves." This happened, and that is the "falling away."

Re: He who restrains
Post #8You're making some good points onewithhim. I always thought the apostasy was stuff about the end of days, but you right. Paul and John warned of crazy stuff about to happen shortly after. I think Jude and Peter also warned of an apostasy getting ready to happen. I was thinking placebo was right, but now I don't know.onewithhim wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 11:55 amThe Restrainer is the last Apostle, John. Re: He who restrains
Post #9Your post is filled with false dogma that Christendom preaches. I find it rather ironic. You preach division and hate as they do.
God is not going to dissolve the Heavens and Earth because someone has a different faith, religion, belief, etc. than you. That is not what Salvation is about.
I would suggest you become more familiar with this verse...
Daniel 2:43
"And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay."
The Fallen Angels are coming. They will mingle themselves with the DNA of Man. We have way bigger problems than 'false religions'. Finger pointing will get you nowhere.
What happened before the Flood is happening now. Fallen Angel/Human Hybrids. You better wake up would be my advice.
Again, the Falling Away is this...
Daniel 8:10
"And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them."
Falling Stars are not meteors.
