How many Christian sects today?

Post by Revelations won »

At present there are over 45,000 Christin sects today.

The Lord has said "If ye are not one ye are not mine". Is God really the author of this massive confusion of so many sects having different doctrines and beliefs?

In the beginning true religion was taught by personal revelation from God, was taught by personal visitation from God and his angels.

God is clearly the same yesterday, today and forever. So who has changed?

Why has modern man refused to accept new revelation form God?

Who has the authority to tell God he now can no longer reveal things to man?

We certainly have the God given power and gift of agency to commune directly with God today as well as in former times.

Can anyone really show from the scriptures that God has clearly refused to communicate with his children on earth? If so can you show according to scripture that this is indeed the case?

Is there any evidence found in the scriptures demonstrate that the very God in Heaven will revel more to us?

It is very difficult to believe there is 45,000 sects. Would be nice to see what are the differences.

But, i think the confusion comes from that people are not loyal to God and Jesus, and replace God's words with their own doctrines they love more.

God is not the author of the thousands of sects.

There is one true united global Christian religion, that can be identified because all its members refuse to be divided by nationalism, tribalism or socio-economic, racial or political issues.

Even in times of war the members of this religion remain organised, united and peaceful. They refuse to view their German/Japanese or Russian brothers and sisters as the "enemy" and will not join or support any military effort to have them killed.

When one looks at this one united Christian religion, they have to agree that this religion follows Jesus' commands like no other religion.

It is very difficult to believe there is 45,000 sects.
Indeed, that's because there aren't 45,000 Christian denominations or sects.

This oft-repeated number comes from sociological data that is totaling up the number of Christian denominations per country. So, for example, since the Roman Catholic Church has congregations in 234 countries, it counts as 234 "denominations" in this sociological data, even though we all recognize it is just a single denomination.

If you take the number 45,000 and divide by 200 you're going to get something closer to the actual number of Christian denominations and sects in the world.

Thank you!

Still quite large number. Maybe it would be good, if Christians would remember these:

I say this to move you to shame. Isn’t there even one wise man among you who would be able to decide between his brothers? But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbeliev-ers! Therefore it is already altogether a defect in you, that you have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? No, but you yourselves do wrong and defraud, and that against your brothers.
1 Cor. 6:5-8
For first of all, when you come together in the assembly, I hear that divisions exist among you, and I partly believe it. For there also must be factions among you, that those who are approved may be revealed among you.
1 Cor. 11:18-19
For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are conten-tions among you. Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” and, “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?
1 Cor. 1:11-13
John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone who doesn’t follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, be-cause he doesn’t follow us.” But Jesus said, “Don’t forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me. For whoever is not against us is on our side.
Mark 9:38-40
He who is not with me is against me, and he who doesn’t gath-er with me, scatters.
Matt. 12:30
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. By this eve-ryone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:34-35

If people are on the side of Jesus, they are on the same side.

There is also the question of what one sees as the relationship between 'Church' and 'denomination'. Many (perhaps most) of these different "sects" don't view those as synonyms, but that different denominations are all different parts of the "One True Church". Then there are others that think theirs is the One True Church.
