It is written...
And he said to them all,
If any man will come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me,
cannot be my disciple.
Are you one of the deceived that believe Jesus took your place upon His cross?
Oh NO.......
You have to defeat
sin and death on YOUR OWN CROSS.
The cross that Jesus commanded you to pick up
and carry with you at all times and follow Him.
When ever anyone tells me they are saved and follow Jesus
I LOOK TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THEIR OWN CROSS.

I do not believe this you have stated from a book, why do you?
Tell me how Jesus could taste death for everyone? Explain it to me.

I wouldn't call it a lie, but that doctrine seems to have originated with Paul. It was his interpretation, his understanding of the theological significance of Jesus' martyrdom.Who Started that Lie Jesus Died For You on His Cross?
My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Post #5Why do you say that? Is it because Paul's letters date earlier than the gospels? Or that you don't think the gospels talk about Jesus' death for us? Something else?Elijah John wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 5:33 amI wouldn't call it a lie, but that doctrine seems to have originated with Paul. Post #6Paul's letters do seem to date before the Gospels. Also, Paul was a theologian, Jesus was a preacher. Jesus may have called his impending death a "ransom" in passing, but Paul was the one who fully developed the idea in a far more systematic manner. If the notion of Jesus martyrdom-as-atonement did not originate with Jesus himself, it seems quite likely that it began with Paul. The Tanager wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 7:53 amWhy do you say that? Re: Who Started that Lie Jesus Died For You on His Cross?
Post #7I agree that Paul drew the meaning out in a more systematic way, but that's different than saying the idea began with Paul. In 1 Cor 15 we have the creed Paul didn't invent, but got from other Christians, which many scholars date to within 5 years of Jesus' death talking about Jesus dying for our sins.Elijah John wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 4:46 pmPaul's letters do seem to date before the Gospels.
