God comes to you and says "I am giving you the choice of trading places with anyone in hell. Once the deal is done there is no going back - you will burn forever and experience the most horrid agony possible in the universe.
Is there ANY circumstance where you might take this offer?
If so, who might that person be that you offer eternal salvation? Who deserves a second chance and would most likely have learned from his lesson burning in hell?
Yes, this means we assume there is someone down there that you know.
Would you EVER trade your soul so someone else could get out

The answer here is yes. I have no one in particular in mind but.... my worship of God is not predicated upon escaping from hell but upon the character of God, which is, IMO, loving, all-wise, all-compassionate.

Post #3depending on who god ends up being. if it's Jesus Christ, then i'll be burning up myself. if it's the non-sectarian God that i happen to believe exists, then my state will reflect the nature of my life, and so, i would choose not to trade places.Cmass wrote:God comes to you and says "I am giving you the choice of trading places with anyone in hell. Given that I don't know of any religion that says this is a possibility, I wouldn't trust any God who would give this proposition. It would go directly against what they preached. And in allowing it to happen, would it not compromise the peace and sanctity of heaven by allowing one who may never have acknowledged Christ or whatever God is being represented here into the holiest of places. Would it not diminish the ultimate reward of eternal life if one could get it by simply allowing another to take their place in hell. I would do it in an instance for my child, but would it not then present the problems listed?

Post #7The base assumption in this question is that I wouldn't otherwise be in hell but that it would still exist. Personally, knowing that there are others in hell would leave me completely unable to think about anything other then trying to get them out, so yes, I would.Cmass wrote:God comes to you and says "I am giving you the choice of trading places with anyone in hell.
