Big news :
"NEW YORK - In a decision that will undoubtedly create shockwaves around the globe, Cardinal George Pell, the most senior Church official to stand trial for sexual abuse, was found guilty on Tuesday by a Melbourne Court.
In one of the most closely watched trials in modern Catholic Church history, after nearly four full days of deliberations, a jury rendered unanimous guilty verdicts on five charges related to the abuse of two choirboys in 1996."

Post #3Australia has no censorship of the free press. What you really mean is that a court imposed suppression order is still in effect. From the Washington Post article:Jubal wrote: Big news :

The news is all over, but still CENSORED in Australia :
- That order has led to a blackout in Australia about the news of a figure who was once among the country’s most highly regarded Catholic leaders, the son of a gold miner who rose to become the archbishop in both Melbourne and Sydney. Major Australian outlets on Wednesday did not carry headlines about the case, but some wrote cryptic stories explaining that significant news had unfolded but was unreportable.
“A very high-profile figure was convicted on Tuesday of a serious crime, but we are unable to report their identity due to a suppression order, Melbourne’s paper, the Age, wrote. The newspaper said that the person “was convicted on the second attempt, after the jury in an earlier trial was unable to reach a verdict.
A judge in the County Court of Victoria had called earlier this year for the gag order as a way “to prevent a real and substantial risk of prejudice to the proper administration of justice.

I shall presume to pose a question for debate.
Where was Jesus when Pell and countless other were sexually and physically and psychologically abusing children?
I expect the victims were Christian children who cried out to Jesus for help.
*******************
The answer I shall give to my own question is that Jesus was nowhere.
If the Jesus character of the Christian-Jewish propaganda ever existed, he was a human who has been dead for nearly 2,000 years.
The Jesus character was NOT sired by the biblical deity Yahweh on a human virgin, because Yahweh is NOT "God".
The possibly fictional Jesus character NEVER saves the little children ...
Because Christianity is a fraud.

No one EVER demonstrates that "God" exists outside their parietal cortex.

Nevermind, I got nothin'.
It came to me!
God does not test us with more than we can handle. Therefore these children can handle the abuse.
We can move on now.
God is great! Amen.

What is the difference between censorship and suppression ?
The court ordered suppression is a form of censorship - a common term for it.
Not so.RedEye wrote: I'm sure that the suppression order will be lifted soon now that the trial is apparently over.
The first trial is over, and he was found guilty.
There is another trial coming up, and that is apparently why the news has been censored or suppressed or kept secret.

Obviously child abuse should never be kept secret, and society needs to be protected from those guilty of child abuse. The secrecy of the Catholic Church and other religions has no doubt contributed to the abuse.Jubal wrote: Is it a good thing for child abuse in the church to be kept secret ?
How has such secrecy contributed to this child abuse ?
To prevent such abuse, I propose that people be warned that children are vulnerable to abuse on the part of religion. Christianity and the Bible, for example, should be exposed as contributors to child abuse. People should know the Bible passages that encourage child abuse and should be warned that those passages create dangerous environments for children.
And Christians need to honestly admit that their beliefs lead to abuse and renounce those beliefs. Otherwise, they share the guilt for child abuse. Three groups guilty of child abuse include the Evangelicals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and the Catholics.

I know you're trying to be funny, but child abuse is no laughing matter. I'm a victim of religious child abuse myself, and there's nothing funny about it.Clownboat wrote:God does not test us with more than we can handle. Therefore these children can handle the abuse.
