Welcome to Country

Post by Wootah »

In Australia we often have a ceremony before (everything) called welcome to country in which we acknlowedge the Aborigines. I always loathe it because it seems so wrong.

Imagine you went next door and murdered your neighbour’s family. Then you decided to rent the house out. Then every time you used the house you thanked the murdered family for the use of their house.

How isn’t that the same as the welcome to country ceremony?
Proverbs 18:17 The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.

I put this in the same category of giving any form of homage or recognition to a crucifix or a cross as that is giving homage to the instrument of death for the son of God.

As like we shoot a person with a rifle and then all hail the holy rifle.

Jesus got crucified so all hail to the holy cross.

That really is insane.

In my hometown we have an old slave Plantation which is a registered Federal historic landmark, and it is a very popular place which cost $10 per person just to go into the fancy mansion house, but only $5 to see the grounds and to see the old slave cabin - while the slave cabin is nicely clean and comfy. I see this display as severely reprehensible because it is glamorizing the white barbarians who committed crimes against humanity, but still it goes onward.

The long lasting ignorance of humanity is hard just to witness the many ignorant displays.

I see it as a reminder. God descending to earth as the Word (Divine Truth) is the biggest expression of God's love ( this depends on one's interpretation of the Gospels). Wearing a crucifix is point of contact on spiritual level as the Scripture says, 'keep your mind upon Him and He shall direct thy path'.
