The doctrine of the Trinity states that God is three "persons".
My question is, how many "spirits" is God?
I believe that God is "a" spirit, meaning that God is "one" spirit.
What do you believe?
How many "spirits" is God?

The problem with this concept in general is the word IS.
God is spirit. God is love. For the trin, Jesus is God but God en whole is not Jesus, as the Trinity is God.
The problem again is the word IS. In holistic equivalence, or exhaustive meaning?
IS is, or as an adjective is?
The mathematical meaning in equivalence cannot be correlated easily. God EN WHOLE is not spirit, since God is OTHER than spirit. Same thing with love.
And for discerning minds, the Spirit of God is derivative of God and the Spirit come in the name of God has two referents, original sender of, the Father, and the character and persona of, in the name of the Son.
This in general is the Paraclete sent. It is also not en whole THE WHOLE spirit of God, Father of spirits. The spirit sent to John the Baptist was in the name of Elijah for instance.

Post #3Let me ask it this way.
The doctrine of the Trinity says that God is three "distinct persons".
How many "distinct spirits" do you think God is?
I think only one.

One Paraclete in general, yes...although the Churches were called the Seven Spirits of God.
As far as God having three Spirits, each Person with One, goobered to the max with the Spirit of God having a separate spirit, you are right.
One Spirit for one God, in my mind taking on different manifestations, but have too a common set of characteristics. Like the wind, or breath, ontologically too since Jesus BREATHED upon the disciples this Spirit or Ruach...no way to breath GOD onto others for a man is there?
Secret: the ANOTHER of the OTHER spirit is because it testifies and claims the name of the Son glorified. NEW to New Covenant yet still having the many characteristics of the old SHEKINAH glory of the OT, that which came upon the prophets with ecstacies and prophesies.

Post #5Romans 8:9 says... "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."
I think this means that "the Spirit of God" is synonymous with "the Spirit of Christ". In other words, they are the "same" Spirit, not "two distinct" Spirits.
Do you agree?

From a Trinitarian point-of-view, one of the three persons of God is called the Holy Spirit. Presumably, the Holy Spirit is a spirit.vesselofmercy wrote: Romans 8:9 says... So then the question is whether the Spirit of Christ and the Spirit of God are synonymous with the Holy Spirit or are they something distinct. I really do not think that the writers of the New Testament are clear on this point. But then again, I don't think that the writers of the New Testament were Trinitarians either.
God is Spirit. God is Holy. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is God and God is the Holy Spirit. Anything wrong with that reasoning?

Post #7The same Paraclete is both the spirit of God and the spirit of Christ in secondary function and ontology, and to get any more specific is to be in the land of unknowing...vesselofmercy wrote: Romans 8:9 says... ...since Jesus is technically not God either in ontology authority or whatever else.
Except that he is GLORIFIED by God in spirit, as possibly spirit plus, etc.
Thus you can attribute divinity to Christ but only via spiritual regeneration or glorification, the firstborn and primary elohim among all elohim under YHWH Elohim.

Yeah. God is Spirit is wrong if you are making an equation of this sentence.God is Spirit. God is Holy. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is God and God is the Holy Spirit. Anything wrong with that reasoning?
God is not en whole spirit since God is obviously much more than spirit.
God is Holy but again not in mathematical equivalence. Holy only attempts to describe God and doesn't even come close.
Oh, you mean the PERSON Holy, as you meant the PERSON Word and the PERSON, Holy Spirit and the PERSON Wisdom that wily female her.
See how mathematical equivalence plus PERSON attributes goobers up your whole paradigm?
