Political Power over the People

Post by Nikku »

Everyone complains about how politicians lie and only care about themselves, yet no one does anything about it. Talk is cheap indeed.

This article states how Christianity(maybe religion in general) contradicts directly with politics. This is exactly why there is the concept of separation of Church and State. Jesus loves you, not your wallet.

I relate Rome to America along with biblical references to the balance of power in this thread below. I also emphasize how a majority of Christians have misinterpreted Jesus' teachings.

A politician is paid to take care of their community, thus they care more about their pay rather than the community itself. I quoted a shepherd caring for his herd and a hireling neglecting the herd.

And now, the point of the debate. Not all of Rome's politicians were corrupted, but many of them were. This can be said about America's politicians. The spread of Christianity throughout the empire weeded out the corrupted politicians and generals.

The misinterpretations of Jesus' teachings that I mentioned in that thread explain why Christianity is not weeding out the corrupt politics of America and even Europe. When Church and State are not separated then that leads to a separation of the wealthy and the povershed. And Jesus was charged with heresy by the Jews(in power) and relieving taxes of the poor without the Emperors authority by the Romans. Jesus demonstrated how easily the corruption of power can go unmatched.

So I ask, is it time for an end to the corruption of America and false Christians? Is a peaceful revolution and martyrdom required to save us from ourselves? Or am I just full of myself?
