Manna, does it have spiritual meaning?

First here is a link to a description of manna.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manna

Here is what Jesus said in the New Testament.

Matthew 26:26
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."

As the Jews were traversing the desert they were given manna to eat instead of the milk and meat they had taken with them to the promised land.
In a similar spiritual fashion, Jesus offers himself as spiritual sustenance to those who are trying to abstain from sin during their trials and tribulations on earth while on their path to the promised Kingdom of Heaven.
He promised to send the comforter, the Holy Spirit. This is similar to God sending manna to the Israelites in the desert.
Yet, when he said this, after feeding the crowd of thousands, this is the point at which they began to reject him because they didn't understand what he meant.
But through him, God's promise to Abraham is fulfilled. That his descendants would receive as he did. But because they rejected him, the promise was given to all who would accept it.
This is the spiritual equivalent of manna.
