Most here know that I tend to follow St. Augustines line of thinking in regards to the anti-Christ not being a literal figure, but a figure of speech referring to the anti-Christ that can be found in all man that can turn them away from God.
I also tend to think (radically, I know) that the 2nd coming of Christ occurred the moment He was resurrected. With Revelations being so cryptic, not to mention based on a supposed dream in which it was revealed, I tend to question the validity of it in that it seems to me that it is a great scare tactic the Catholic church could have used to maintain their power.
So, open for debate:
Is it possible that the 2nd coming of Christ has already occurred? Is there any validity to the thought that Christ will come again and usher in an apocalyptic event? What would be the point of the event, what is stood to gain at the end for mankind?
Has the 2nd coming of Christ already occurred?

Post #2No. There's other prophetic signs that have to be fulfilled first, including the Gospel being preached throughout the whole world, another Jewish Temple, and the judgments in Revelation.Confused wrote:

Recommend Google "Signs of the Second Coming"

Post #3Now come on Easyrider, if you want to contribute, then contribute, don't give me a bunch of google this and google that. I am well versed in scripture thank you. You seem to have missed my skepticism about Revelations all together.Easyrider wrote:No. There's other prophetic signs that have to be fulfilled first, including the Gospel being preached throughout the whole world, another Jewish Temple, and the judgments in Revelation.Confused wrote:

With respect to the OP, and Opie, I don't think there's any evidence a Christ (as a literal god) ever came the first time. This would kinda negate the "Second coming" angle.

Come Lord Jesus.
1Thes.4
[13] But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
[15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
[16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
[18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

No I do not think the 2nd coming has occurred yet.
Matthew 23:17 Jesus tells Jerusalem that they will not see him again until they say blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Mark 13:14 speaks of the abomination of desolation happening first, and as said above earlier n mark 13 verse 10 the gospel of Jesus must be preached to all nations.
Mark 13:19, 20 says there will be tribulation like the world has never seen before and unless the Lord shorten the days of this tribulation no flesh would be saved. We haven't seen any thing like this yet.
Mark 13:24-27 declares he will return after these things.
I think Luke 21:8-9 shows that Jesus said the resurrection is not his 2nd coming for he was dead for 3 days then raised but he indicates many will come claiming to be Him and the 2nd coming. So if this is true this did not happen in the 3 days he was dead, this happens now and in the future.
Luke 21:25-27 says mens hearts will fail from fear of what is coming because of the shaking of Heaven THEN he comes.
there's so much more but this is a start.
