When reading the Humanist Manifesto (I, II, II and 2000), how doesn't Progressive equal Humanist?
The terms and certainly the actions of the two, appear interchageable.
Progressive or Humanism?

The more I read John Shelby Spong, Matthew Fox, Tom Harpur and Gretta Vosper, the more I find that they have more in common with the secular humanists that they do with the believers in a divinely revealed religion. Isn't that a good thing?
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

No. Not when they claim to be a Christian, when what the Apostles wrote contradicts what they write.McCulloch wrote:The more I read John Shelby Spong, Matthew Fox, Tom Harpur and Gretta Vosper, the more I find that they have more in common with the secular humanists that they do with the believers in a divinely revealed religion. Maybe they are Christians, maybe they are not. From where I sit, they are better than most Christians.Mere_Christian wrote:No. Not when they claim to be a Christian, when what the Apostles wrote contradicts what they write.

I know a lot of people that are not Christians that are "better" than just about every Christian I know. And I know a lot of Christians.McCulloch wrote:McCulloch wrote:The more I read John Shelby Spong, Matthew Fox, Tom Harpur and Gretta Vosper, the more I find that they have more in common with the secular humanists that they do with the believers in a divinely revealed religion. But you would expect that from egotists, that have to feel they are superior to others by what they do. Reading humanism, it is all about being superior to the common man.
