Progressive or Humanism?

Post by Mere_Christian »

When reading the Humanist Manifesto (I, II, II and 2000), how doesn't Progressive equal Humanist?

The terms and certainly the actions of the two, appear interchageable.

The more I read John Shelby Spong, Matthew Fox, Tom Harpur and Gretta Vosper, the more I find that they have more in common with the secular humanists that they do with the believers in a divinely revealed religion. Isn't that a good thing?
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
First Epistle to the Church of the Thessalonians
The truth will make you free.

No. Not when they claim to be a Christian, when what the Apostles wrote contradicts what they write.

How many people actually post here a DC&R?

I thought this subject would be more popular.

Maybe they are Christians, maybe they are not. From where I sit, they are better than most Christians.

I know a lot of people that are not Christians that are "better" than just about every Christian I know. And I know a lot of Christians.

But you would expect that from egotists, that have to feel they are superior to others by what they do. Reading humanism, it is all about being superior to the common man.
