Once saved

Post by Menotu »

Is this true?
My grandfather is a retired minister (and an abusive father and husband I should point out). He taught his church that the concept of 'once saved always saved' is true. Many in the city I grew up in attended that church - and many still do even though he's no longer preaching.
Is the concept of 'once saved always saved' true? It is, as I understand it (I didn't attend his church) is once Jesus saves you from your sin, nothing you can do past blasphemy can prohibit you from getting in to heaven. It seems it was a 'once forgiven all future sin will be forgiven'.

I wonder if it's worth mentioning that many members of this church appear to be anything but Christian; from abusers, to adulterers to thieves - with the exception of murderers, most all of them continue to run the course of continued sinners (and not the "we've all sinned" type but the 'I sinned yesterday and will sin tomorrow" type.)

Yehwahismywitness is absolutely correct.

God and the angels are immortal spiritual bodied beings which exist forever.

Satan, or the devil, is the only being which will be tormented day and night for ever and ever:
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)
The other demons will be given sentences less than for ever and ever.

But the devil will not be hurt by the fire & brimstone, as he is a spirit. The fire and brimstone are not for him, but are there to instantly kill physical bodied humans which shall be cast into the lake of fire and suffer their second and everlasting death.

So the devil who will be tormented day and night for eternity, not the mythical souls of nonbelievers!

This cannot be physical torment since the devil's spiritual body does not feel pain. It is the torment of knowing he failed, being defeated, seeing lowly humans being upgraded to take his place, never being given another opportunity, separation from the Kingdom of God, etc.

He has rebelled, been defeated, and lost his freedom and authority for eternity.

Man was created by God capable of dying in an effort to avoid having to sentence any other being to the harsh penalty which Satan will suffer eternally!

It is evidence that God is indeed Love!

That's correct, as difficult as it is for us to hear. Consciously "alive," but in a state of eternal death, which is not a cessation of existence. Fire indicates judgment all through the Bible. All will be judged at the Judgment, and those without an Advocate (Christ) will become subject to this judgment -- with Satan -- forever and ever. This is the eternal fire -- again, the place of judgment -- prepared for the devil and his angels, into which those on the figurative left of Jesus will also depart.

Grace and peace to all.

Maybe. Maybe not.

I think the jury is out for some time yet.

But you do weave an interesting story, one that is new to me.

I wonder what others think, about how God is going to finally fully deal with the devil and his fallen angels(demons).

He's going to spend eternity torturing them of course, like the loving God he is. If "hell"is where God is is not and God will spent all eternity keeping Satan alive in order to torture him, won't they essentially spend eternity together?
