Where do we go when we die?

This question was raised by Melis here.

Ah the catholics.

Well I'm certainly not going to try and defend their belief system. They have included many things which are either not included in the bible, or even run contrary to its teachings.

If you feel the need to pick apart catholocism then go for it. I wont even argue.

However, the protestant beliefs (or at least MY beliefs) do not include much of their rhetoric.

Catholics make up the majority of all christians, so we could consider their beliefs as predominant. However, I'm not insisting in any way on this if you don't share the same view.

Just out of interest: where protestants believe souls go after death?

Protestants or me?

Both please.

So the question is where do souls go after death.

I think most protestants believe that the soul goes straight to heaven or hell depending on their faith in Jesus or lack of it.

I can accept this as possible. I have my own view of what occurs.

We die.

We enter into a state much like what the atheists feel is permament. Sleep. No conciousness at all. Then all at once we are raised and judged and then seperated and we go to heaven or hell.

Effectively, for the dead person there is no real difference as they would be totally unaware of the passage of time while they were waiting for judgement.

What do others think?
It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.

A soul is just like an angel, a spirit being who can take the form of any shape. I know this directly from the Lord Jesus Christ who is our Good Pastor and Teacher as in the days of the apostles.

I guess the next question is "how and when" did you receive this information directly from your "Lord Jesus Christ" who is now your "Good Pastor and Teacher"?
Also how do you know your received it from him or that it was him? Maybe you got it from a demon, your imagination or a brain malfunction.

Paul made similar claims that he was getting his info directly from Christ in visions
and even goes as far as saying he preached a different Christ then the Jerusalem assemble that were suppose to be his disciples that walked with him and learned under him. Of course all we have is the gospels that are at least a generation later as any thing that may have been written before has disappeared.
The unknown author of Mark seems to have taken the works of Homer and one-upped him making Jesus a more heroic Odysseus using passages and stories from the OT placed in the life of Jesus. Sometimes the words are taken right out of the Septuagint. Also passages looked like they have been lifted right from Homer's work. The unknown author of Matthew comes along and improves Mark's work and fixes places the author obviously didn't understand about Jewish life and culture. In Mark the Pharisees seem almost allies, friendly, are the righteous not needing a doctor and even warn Jesus abut Herod where a generation or two later after the war what was obviously Sadducees(Roman collaborators) now becomes the Jews lumping Pharisees and Sadducees together and relieving the Romans of the responsiblity of his death except as Jewish puppets.

So tell us how does Jesus communicate this information to you, when and where?
Visions, dreams or does he talk to you personally and you hear his voice?
What makes your claims different then others?

Whatever, there is nothing impossible with Jesus. All I know is that Jesus talked to us when we called on in Him and asked for His help. He talked to us and we understood Him very much because He talked to us in Tagalog except when He cited to us the ten commandments which He spoke to us both in Tagalog and English languages respectively.

What exactly do you mean by awesome in this issue? With respect to your first question, the best that I can give you is the teaching itself of the Lord to us, the Lord said: Note: This is only English translation, the original language used to us by the Lord is Tagalog.

“ Bear in your mind all of you who are seeking the Lord God, I the Almighty One, if you wanted to know Me, seek Me true to your inner being and accept all and put to practice in your life, follow, do, and spread My Holy Word and My commandments. If you are seeking salvation, if you wish to possess eternal life, come and get nigh and My church is open to all of you. Those of you who are seeking Me, bear in your mind that in my church, you are all at par with each other, none is rich and nor poor, none is brilliant nor dull, none is disabled. Whether you are with ailment you are still at par with the one who is healed. Treat no one exulted and nor treat no one downgraded. All of you are at par with each other only.”

“ I Am only the One high and above with all of you, I your God, I as the Good Pastor, I the Great Healer. And this further bear in your mind that no man pastor will lead my church, no one will act as Pastor because I am the only Pastor. All the members of My Church will be the ones to spread My word. None is infant and none is adult because I will give each one wisdom for them to spread My commandments and My Word to all nations, to all people, and to any place of the world.”
