Hosea 5:15
I have several questions that need the insight of others. My questions concern Hosea 5:15. The LORD is speaking to the prophet and said to him,
“I will go and return to my place, until they (the Jews) acknowledge (or confess) their offense, and seek my face; in their affliction, they will seek me early.”
When do you think the Lord returned to his place? My response can be found in Acts 1:9 when Jesus “was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.” In other words, when he returned to his Father in heaven.
Your thoughts.
Second question: “What was the offense of the Jews?” I think it was the rejection and the murder of the Son of God.
Your thoughts.
Third question: What affliction is he speaking of? I believe it’s the time of Jacob’s trouble, or the ‘Great Tribulation" the Jews will have to suffer through.
Your thoughts.

If the Lord returned to his place in heaven 40 days after his resurrection sometime in May of 31 A.D. and we add 2000 years instead of two days, we would find ourselves in the Month and year, May 2031, some 40 days after the Jewish Passover of 2031 A.D.
Again, because you do not understand that Jesus is God, you will not understand. Why? Because in Hosea, Israel is told to return unto the LORD, that would be Jesus Christ. Hosea 5:15, Jesus said, "I will go and return to my place, until they (Israel) acknowledge their offense."
His Father did not strike him, the Jews and the Romans crucified him. His father sent him, and Jesus came of his own free will.
- If it does apply to Jesus are we to presume that God struck him when he was executed in the Spring 33 CE.?
Concerning 33 A.D. Wrong! He was executed the day before the Passover in April of 31 A.D. at the age of 33 years and 6 months. Jesus was born in October between the 15th and 30th, in 4 B.C. two years before the death of Herod the Great. Baptized at the age of 30, in 27 A.D. Luke 3:23.
The problem you will have with the following is, that you have been taught like the Catholics and Mormons that God is finished with the Jews, and that you are now "spiritual Israel." Until you get that out of your thoughts, you will never understand.HOSEA 1 verse 1
For he has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us./ He struck us, but he will bind our wounds
For he (God) hath torn (Isreal), not himself. Israel has suffered for 1900 years, extreme persecution from every nation on earth. The Jews have been punished, tortured, imprisoned, and murdered. Why because the LORD told them they were to be punished (torn).
And if the "us" was Jesus and he was struck down / turn to pieces when he was killed, wouldnt your theory mean he was resurrected two thousand years later?
The "Us" are the Jews who will one day be healed.
Hosea 3:4-5, "For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image and without an ephod, and without teraphim. Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God,"
Ezekiel 37:21-22, "Thus said the Lord God; behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen (Gentile nations of the world) whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land.
Verse 22, "I will make them (12 tribes) one nation (May 14:1948) in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king (Jesus) shall be king to them all: and they (Israel) shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:"
Isaiah 21, "Thy (Isaiah's) people (the Jews) they shall inherit the land forever,"

Upon what scriptural basis do you apply Hosea 6:1, 2 to the resurrection of Jesus?
I don't see the answer to this question. You at first seemed to be proposing that the "us" was Jesus and that he "returned to his place" 2 thousand years after he was executed. But he was resurrected three literal days after his execution, not two thousand years....HOSEA 1 verse 2
He will revive us after two days.

Re: Hosea 5:15
Post #33Hosea 5:14-15, is an end-time prophecy concerning Israel. First came Jesus' ascension, "I (the Lord) will go and return to my place," This happened 40 days after his resurrection. John 14:2, "I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again," Where did Jesus go? He returned to the Father's house.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:14 amplacebofactor wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:43 am...

The "Us" are the 12 tribes (plural) of Israel. Jesus ("I" is singular) returns to his place in heaven.
I will write the verse out for you, then explain. "I (the Lord Jesus) will go and return to my place (the house of his Father), until they (the Jews) acknowledge (confess) their offence," When did he do that? Acts 2:9, "He (Jesus) was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their (the disciples) sight."
John 14:28, Jesus is speaking, "I go away and come again unto you." Until when? "Until the Jews acknowledge their offense," It's so simple. But you will not understand because you reject the Holy Spirit as a teacher sent by the Father to his Son, who then sent him to us. You do not have to explain what you are taught about the "breath of the Father," I know. Because you reject him as a separate entity, whatever spirit is teaching you is a false spirit, a spirit of confusion. You asked: That's my answer to your problem.
Rejection of the Holy Spirit as the "One" sent to believers to teach is the sin of blaspheme. Mark 3:29, "But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:" And because you reject Jesus as your Creator and your God, you reject the Holy Spirit that he sent to us. And if rejected, a person is incapable of repentance. The accusation brought against Jesus by the scribes implied their guilt.
If the Father was meant, why was it not written, "But he that shall blaspheme against the Father has never forgiveness."

2000 years ago, in 70 A.D. the Romans entered Jerusalem, destroyed the city, and the Temple, killed over one million Jews, took tens of thousands into captivity, and scattered others throughout the Empire. But many Jews remained in the land. The healing began on May 14, 1948, and continues to this day, 77 years have passed.
But the tearing down of the Jews by the LORD began in 724 B.C. when Shalmaneser King of Assyria defeated the ten Northern tribes and took tens of thousands of Jews into captivity. Soon after, the Assyrian empire was divided into three kingdoms. the Babylonian, Assyrian, and Media. But Nebuchadnezzar and his father once again consolidated the whole of the ancient Assyrian empire and enlarged it down to the borders of Egypt.
In 606 B.C. Daniel and several thousand young Jews were taken captive and brought to Babylon, also, in 606 B.C. Jeremiah's prophesy of 70 years began and ended in 536 B.C. when Cyrus the Great defeated Babylon and freed all the Jews (all 12 tribes) in his Empire. Some 42,360 left for Israel.
2 Chronicles 36:22-23, "In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia ----- that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus said Cyrus king of Persia, -------- the LORD God --- charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah."
Ezra 1:3, "Who is there among you (the Jews) of all his people? his God is with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah,"
King Darius repeated Cyrus's decree many years later, freeing more Jews to return to their homeland.
In 457 B.C. Artaxerxes Longimanus the son of Xerxes the Great freed more Jews, his decree fulfilled Daniel's prophesy found in Daniel 9:25. Then in 444 B.C., the last decree by Artaxerxes was made for the Jews to return to Israel. All 12 Tribes were now back in Israel.
Yet many remained behind, we see that in the book of Esther, when Haman would have had all the Jews throughout the empire killed. But by the hand of God, Esther and Mordecai they were preserved.

the tearing down of the Jews by the LORD began in 724 B.C. when Shalmaneser King of Assyria defeated the ten Northern tribes
All 12 tribes have been gathered back to their land, on May 14, 1948. Matthew said this generation would not pass away until all the things he spoke of in Matthew 24 were fulfilled. This generation of Jews is now 77 years old. There are 8 million Jews living in Israel today, and another 8 or 9 million scattered around the world, most of them in America. Like any wound, it takes time to heal, we are told it will take a generation to heal them.
You asked me about how I know these dates. I keep a chart, a timeline of history, of Kings, and empires, of the rise and fall of Israel, of key players like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, the Temple, Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, Alexander the Great, the Seleucids, the Antiochus family from 281 B.C. until 63 B.C. etc, etc. My timeline begins in 4004 B.C. until the birth of Jesus in 4 B.C. the Baptism of Jesus in late October of 27 A.D. his death in April of 31 A.D. and his return to his Father in May of 31 A.D.
Without keeping a correct timeline, things will get confused and muddied. There are prophesies yet unfulfilled. The Lord left many clues in books like Daniel, Hosea, Jeremiah, and Revelation for us concerning these remaining prophesies. Prophesies, and mysteries hidden until the Lord reveals them to us. He is now revealing them to us, but few will understand these remaining end-time prophesies because most people have locked their thinking in a Jar and then sealed it. As for me, I'm a free thinker, I love to figure things out.

Post #40No, because in every prophecy concerning the Jews and the Land, there were first curses, then blessings. If a child disobeys his parents he is punished for that one act but not forsaken. If he disobeys again, he is punished again for that sin but not forsaken. God punishes the Jews for their sins, but they always have had the opportunity to repent and return to the Lord. The Lord is forgiving and patient. Only one sin will not be forgiven, that is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 12:03 pmHOSEA 6:1-2

The LORD's curses and blessings are seen throughout the scriptures. When the 10 Northern tribes sinned against him, he sent in the Assyrians. When the two southern tribes sinned, he sent in Nebuchadnezzar. One hundred years before Cyrus was born, Isaiah wrote "He (Cyrus) is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying' to Jerusalem, thou shalt be built: and to the temple, the foundation shall be laid."
In 536 B.C. the Lord sent Cyrus to Babylon, he destroyed the Babylonian kingdom and released all 12 tribes from captivity as prophesied. In 70 A.D., all 12 tribes were living in Israel when they crucified the Lord. Because of that great sin, the whole nation, all 12 tribes were scattered throughout the world by the Romans.
We have now entered the time of the end. The Lord promised to gather the Jews back to the land as one nation, and never again will they be removed. Today, all 12 tribes are back in Israel. But God's last curse called the "time of Jacob's trouble" on the Jews will be fulfilled by the antichrist and his high priest in Israel. When it's over, and Jesus returns, there will be no more sin. The Lord will destroy all his enemies, cast the antichrist and his high priest into the lake of fire, and bind Satan for 1000 years. In his 1000-year reign, he will set up his kingdom in Israel and sit as King of Kings. His Temple will come down from heaven to Mt. Moriah, the place David purchased for him. Jesus Christ will rule and reign for 1000 years.
